    2. Nancy, There would be no wife's name listed in the 1830 census. However, If you believe they were in Rochester, I will look in the 1850 census for you. Beeaver Co. is a big county to look through if you don't have an idea of what section the lived in. Get back to you in a day or so. Jean

    3. Does anyone know where I might find cemetery records for St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church for the time period 1870-1905 ? I am not sure which town this church was in other than Beaver Falls was listed as the place of marriage. Also, if your ancestor lived in White Township and was Roman Catholic, where else would you look for a death record and burial for 1892? Thank you for any suggestions. Sherri

    1. [PABEAVER-L] Surnames
    2. I am new to the list and I am researching the name LUMM/LUM. My connection is Jesse Albert Lumm who was born in 8/16/1840 in Beaver Co. PA. His father was Mortomer Hampton LUMM. Mortomer Hampton was in the 1840 census index of Beaver Co. as well as two Jesse LUMMs. I believe one may be his grandfather. Jesse Sr. as I will call him came to Beaver Co. in 1834. He filed for pension in 1835 and was listed in the 1840 census next to Mortomer who went by Hampton in the census. I don't know who Mortomers wife was, but she must of died between 1847 and 1850. There last son, Uriah, was born in 1847, and she was not with them in the 1850 census in Ohio. I cannot find Jesse Sr. Lumm after 1840, but I suspect he died in Beaver Co. between 1840-1850. He was over 70 in the 1840 census. I would appreciate any help with finding Mortomer's wife name and Jesse death date. If any of this sounds like a connection to your family I would also like to hear from you. Michelle

Boies, Sr.. Genealogy of the Boies Family of Pennsylvania and adjoining counties of Eastern Ohio. 1300 Higiscus, McAllen, TX 78501 512-682-0956. Anna Boies is not included in my 682 page book on the Quaker Irish Boyces descended from Richard Boyes (1600's) Co. Antrim, Ireland. Her grandfather - David - may be from that family - but no proof. Switch the "i" with "y" which was frequently done. However Anna is mentioned in a rather haphazard rendition entitled " Genealogy of the Boies Family of Pennsylvania and adjoining counties in Eastern Ohio." compiled by Robert E. Boies, Sr. of McAllen, Texas in 1986. It is not indexed. A copy was in the Citizen's Library in Washington, Pa. and probably in Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh. He says that Anna Boies b. 4 April 1811 was the sixth of 12 children of John (b. in Ireland) and Nancy ______ b. 1779 in Maryland. John was the second oldest and one of 10 children of David Boies and ________ Forsyth Boies the daughter of John. Their first five children were born in Ireland.

    3. To Nancy Baldwin..There was a plasterer in New Brighton in 1837 named Sylvester Hunter, along with my James N. Bebout. See Warner's History of Beaver County, p. 447. I don't know if there was any more about Sylvester. I rented the book from Hoenstine years ago -BC (before computers), and just xeroxed the pages for my family names. Hope this helps.
