Their web site is: <www.flealess.org/beaver1.html> The members have looked up information in the New Brighton, PA, (Beaver County) Directory for me. It allowed me to find my Baker and Brown GR GR Grandparents, and confirm the children in my Hunter family. I am a believer. I would suggest that you become a member of the BGGS. the annual cost is only $10.00, and they are one of the most helpful and friendly groups, that I belong to. They also have a great journal. Good luck with your search, Nancy Baldwin

    3. Lynn, Also if you have a lot of research in Beaver County, you might want to join their genealogical society. It costs $10.00 per year, but if you belong they do research for free. If you want more information about it e-mail me privately at marlboro@suite224.net. 2. Hi all, I've been at this genealogy stuff for about a year now and just hear about city directories. They were a great help in finding my relatives in San Francisco. I didn't do the research myself, but the person that did used the city directories to find out exactly what year my family appeared in the area and so on. Anyway, I was wondering if Beaver Co. PA. has city directories and if so how can I get info from them. I, unfortunately, can't go to PA so is there somewhere I can write too? Does it cost? Or is there a library loan program on these? I'm sorry if I sound like an amateur, but that is exactly what I am. I'm learning along the way. And having fun too. What a great hobby... (obsession). 1. [PABEAVER-L] BEUCHSER/BUCHSER/BOOKSER Family from Switzerland ~1850
    2. Julie Reese Bookser
    3. Hi, I'm doing research on my husband's family name (BOOKSER - BUCHSER/BEUCHSER) and I found information that suggests that his ggg-grandparents Samuel and Cathrina Buchser came to America from Switzerland in ~1850. After coming to America, they had eight sons (Edward, Charles, William, Samuel, Ames, Henry, Joseph & Louis). We have been able to trace the family lines of two of the sons, Charles and Edward, however we do not know what happened to the rest of the sons. If anyone has any information that would help me solve this mystery, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your help, Julie Reese BOOKSER

    2. Bobbi Robert
    3. Hi, I'm new to this list, having just recently found some old photos which may put some of my mother's family, CARLYSLE, in Beaver Co. From what I can gather from these photos, her paternal grandmother, Mary Ann HURST CARLYSLE was living in Beaver Falls, on a farm perhaps, from at least 1928 until at least the late 1940s. Unfortunately people in these pictures are not identified, they are just labeled Beaver Falls and a date. I'd appreciate any help, and would also be interested in finding out what cemeteries are in Beaver Falls that my gg-grandmother may be buried in, and funeral homes that were around in the 1940-50 range. Thanks in advance. 1. [PABEAVER-L] SIPPY/SIPPEY/JONES/HILL
    2. Nancy
    3. Hello I am Nancy Jones with an interesting and challenging connection to the Sippey name. My ggreatgrandfather, Irenius Jones of Lawrence Co married Mary Jane Hill and they had three sons that changed their names to Sippey some time after Irenius and Mary Jane died.. Two of the sons, James and John moved to Pittsburgh and owned the Sippey Brothers Printing Company. I am not sure where the third son, Charles lived. I believe he stayed in PA. Charles Sippey had a wife Kittie and at least one daughter Carie May. I have found that there is a Sippy line as well as the Sippey line. I am aware of the history of Joseph Tremau marrying Lucretia Johnston and changing his name to Sippy and moving to Beaver County, PA where they had 18 children. I am wondering if anyone knows of the Sippey families being of the same line as the Sippy families. I know it is not uncommon for the spellings of surnames to change over time and that ultimately the variations are related to the same ancestor. I would appreciate any input you might have on this. Thank you for your time. Nancy Jones

    3. My GGgrandfather, HUGH MONTGOMERY was from Beaver Co. Pa, born in Ireland in 1754, married Eve Hartman in c1784. He was in the Revolution 1777-1783. He is buried in Indiana in 1830. Was the land of Beaver Co originally part of Westmorland? There was another family very closely associated with Hugh and his family, James Gageby. I found his grave at the Old Unity Church graveyard in Westmoreland. Will join your Genealogy group and very happy to have your message. 2. G. R. Tafini
    3. Cheryl PILLAR asked a question last week about marriages in Beaver Co., PA. I don't know if anyone helped her yet. I have a book: 19th Century Marriage Registrations Beaver County, Pennsylvania Compiled by Publishers of Beaver County Records Helen G. Clear, Sladys G. Schmidt, Mae H. Winne. Library of Congress Catalogue Card Number 82-90024 It is an index that covers 30 marriages that were recorded Oct. 1852 - Sept. 1854 and 6,235 marriages from Oct. 1885 through Dec. 1900 that were recorded in the Marriage License Dockets at Beaver County, PA. The index identifies the record number, the date, and the name of the couple. If a record is in the index it would be a good idea to obtain the Marriage Record to see what additional information that it contains. It may provide birthdates or ages, place of birth, names of parents, and information about previous marriages. I did a quick look and did not find Hattie Jones Bowser. If Cheryl could clarify what her aunt's maiden name was and her husband's name I will check again. Notice that the records start in Oct. of 1885. If they were married earlier in 1885 there won't be a record for them. If other Beaver County Researchers need some look ups please contact me directly at gtafini@tir.com and identify the full names of the couple that you are looking for and their approximate marriage date if you know it. I will probably get many requests so it will take me a while to respond. I will post a summary of the successful searches to the PABEAVER list unless you request otherwise. Regards, Gary R.
