Hi rooters, I just learned that an ancestor that I'm researching was a Masonic member of the Alliquipa Lodge #375. Edward Coyan was born in 1851 and died in 1944 in a Masonic Hospital in Philadelphia, after having resided for 20+ years at the Masonic home in Elizabethtown, PA. Could anyone shed some light on how good (or bad) the Masonic folks are/were at keeping records and if there is any hope of obtaining records or Masonic pictures of him???? Thanks! Anthony Coyan Jackson, Ohio
Is anyone going to the library soon who can do an obit lookup, copy and snail mail me the results if I pay the postage? Thanks. Gail in Maryland gaelps@msn.com

If anyone has access to a phone book around 1932, I'd be greatful for a lookup for Andrew M. Wilson. We know Andrew M. Wilson was living with his mother. Mary E. Wilson, in Beaver Falls when she died on 1 January 1924. He was the informant on the death certificate. They were living at 808 Ninth Ave. in Beaver Falls. Andy Wilson was living when his brother, Robert Hugh Wilson died on March 1, 1932. The obituary mentions both Andy and his sister, Minnie Kredel as living. I contacted the funeral home that handled both funerals but they didn't have anything on when Andrew died. Is there an index for the (Fairview) UNION Cem. located in Monaca. I am looking for Albert LEIMER and his wife Annie Mattauch LEIMER. Also Enoch MATTAUCH and his wife Julia SEIBT MATTAUCH. I know they are all in that cemetery because I hold a lot deed. I have been told that it was moved. If so, where? And how do I contact them? They all belonged to St. Johns Catholic Church in Monaca. Would St. Johns have any records on these people? If so , where do I write to obtain them? Thank you, Marge Weigel MWeigel349@aol.com

Just a note to keep this list up-to-date. The Beaver County Genealogical Society now has their own web page. Whenever we make changes at this web site, we add a note to the 'What's New ' page. If you want to see what has changed since the last time you were there, then stop by and check this page. We have just added the 1850 Mortality Schedule and a list of Spanish-American War Vets. of Beaver County. Happy hunting! Alice
I am new to this list and am researching the following families Morrow, Moore, Campbell, Mitchell in Westmoreland, Washington and Beaver Counties. I have been told they were connected to the following Presb. churches Slippery Rock (Elwood City?), Pigeon Creek (Washington Co, ) and Bethel Township (North Beaver Twp). They were located in Washington Co, unitl about 1795, then Morvia, Lawrence Co until around 1800 and then North Beaver Twp, had some connections with Hopewell, Shenango and Wayne Twps also. William Morrow the father was from Westmoreland Co, and he served in the Rev. War in the Invalid Corp and died while in service. He was granted Bounty Land in Beaver Co that his wife and children received. I have written National Archives but they have no papers so the land may possibly be PA state land. How does one get copies of their files? William Morrow b in Ireland d 28 Jan 1874 Westmoreland Co, PA married to Eleanor? and their children: Thomas b 1756 Ireland d 1845 Washington Co, PA ma Margaret Gibson Charles b 1762 Irleand d 1845 Washington Co, PA m Rebecca Moore Margaret b 1767 Irleand d 1851 Shenango Twp, Lawrence Co, PA m Joseph Hennon Hugh Nancy b 1770 County Down, Ireland d 1859 Neshannock Twp, Mercer Co, PA m John Moore in 1797 ( John Moore and Rebecca Moore Charles' wife were siblings. John served as a drummer boy in the Rev War at the age of seven from DAR papers) Charles and Rebecca Moore Morrow had the following children: Rebecca married James Campbell Jess b 1780 d 1852 Wayne Twp, Law Co, PA m Mary Van Eman Adam b circa 1798 m Catherine Van Eman James d 1868 m Mary Moore John m Elizabeth Moore Nellie b 1793 d 1878 marrie Judge Cairns Margaret m Samuel Crawford Rebecca Morrow and James Campbell had the following children: William John b 14 Feb 1827 d 1 Jan 1921 Princeton, KS m 1st Belinda Moore 2nd Mary Smith Mitchell Henry Robert Adam James Ellen Rebecca m J.J. Liebendorfer (New Castle, PA ) Margaret b 1843 in Big Beaver Twp. m Frances W McKim John was first married to Belinda Moore in Feb 1849 and she died Feb 1850 he then married in 1851 Mary Smith Mitchell daughter of Matthew and Nancy Smith Mitchell of Beaver twp Pa. An interesting note is John and Mary's first child was named Mary Belinda after his two wives (did they know one another or were friends) John and Mary and the Mitchell's moved to Mahaska Co, IA about 1856. I am attempting to document this family for DAR and need to find out where I can get the church records, birth and death and marriages for these families in the PA area. I would also like to find out the parent's of John and Rebecca Moore. Why was John in the War at such a young age? Also need parent;s for James Campbell (there is a possiblity that it was the William living next door to him in the 1840 census). I am running into block walls with these families an cannot come to the area to research. Thanks for any and all help. Glynice in CA
Lynn, The number after the county name is the page on which the person is listed Pat
I have just recently subscribed to this list so I apologize if this question has already been answered. Does anyone know if there is an online Pennsylvania death census index like the one for Ohio? Thanks for any help. Gail gaelps@msn.com

Hi All, I have a copy of a page from the 1840 PA census. It has names, then county names and then a number and then the township. Does anyone know what the number refers to? Example: SCOTT, John Beav 190 Ohio Twp What does the 190 mean? Thanks, Lynn
Lynn: Did you get an answer on your Beaver Co question? The Beaver Co Research Center (which also houses the genealogy society) has loads of wonderful information. Also, good sources for locating ancestors -- tax records - the census man may have missed your ancestor, but you can be the tax man didn't. Beaver Co Research center has early tax records. Another source is voter registration. Orphans Court Records. Land records are good -- land was cheap and plentiful in the early days, so most everyone owned land -- which means they would have a deed. The grantor deeds usually list the wifes name also (sometimes the maiden name) and the signatures down in the lefthand corner of witnesses - are usually family members - first one the mans relative and second wives side. The Family History Centers have microflm ed most of the early records of a county - including deed indexes, as well as the deeds themselves. Often wills are microfilmed. Or are available from the county court house. These are just a few of the ideas to consider in your research for your ancestors ---- yes it does become an "obsession" --- and GREAT FUN!!. Any questions I can answer - fire away. Dorothy

I' m looking for information on Adam DAVIDSON, who lived in Allegheny, Washington and Beaver County, PA between 1800 and 1850. The 1810 Census has him with his own household, while the 1850 census shows him living with Ebenezer Davidson (My GGGGGrandfather) in Hopewell Township, Beaver County. I'm trying to determine if he is the father or grandfather to my Ebenezer, and anything else about him.
