My wife has a Marie Ursula WAGNER, born in Baden in 1805 that married a Jacob FLOREY at St. Patrick's church in Pittsburgh in 1829. Could this person be related to your WAGNER's? We have been trying to find information on this person and her family for a long time. I would like to let everyone know that the Research Center for Beaver Co and Local History is GREAT...... I sent them info way last yr and they were able to send me info back on my names with a small charge..this was last yr...about a month ago I got out of the blue some more info from them re my GGgrandfather such as his obit and another notice in the paper re what had caused his death...in 1884 you do not get death certificates...His obit also told me about his brother in law Michael O'Connor and wife who just came over from "the old country" a few days befor he died to go into business with him...so that explained the O'Connor baptismals that were on the search that I had done by the Diocese of Pittsburgh last yr that they could not prove because they did not have the marrage of the Elizabeth OKeane to this man in their records...but because of the OKeane name it was sent anyways...[my Ggranny was one of the sponosors at this baptismal so I knew there had to be a connection] ....3 days ago I got another letter from them and in it was the notice that GGgrandfather OKeane had applied for naturalization and to send to Beaver Court house for the application this also was out of the blue.... So I would suggest that if you live far like I do try sending them your names and what you have on them..give them everything you have and let them see what they can find for you... In reply to C. Hinds query on Plants. In the 1870 Beaver Co. Census under Big Beaver Twp there is a Leonard Plants 66yo carpenter b. in PA. He is listed with my Samuel Gould and family and I never understood the relationship. Have always thought he may have been a boarder in their home. Hope this helps. As I know nothing about the Gould ancestery this might be a relative. Marilyn

My Issac STEPHENS & wife Rebecca DUNGAN lived in the Beaver Falls area for quite some time but i think they went to Pittsburgh in later years Does anyone have access to the 1874 city directory for Pittsburg? My grandmother was born there at 705 Penn Avenue, ward 10 on July 23, 1874. I do believe that my g-gmother went to Pittsburgh to have her 1st born & that her & her husband did not live in that house. Possible names in that house would be STEPHENS, DUNGAN, SCHULTZ/SHULTZ, BYRES OR LOOKINS Thank You Susane

Just after firing off my last note, I realized that I also tried to do a little research in French records a few years back. I ordered the birth records for Oberbetchdorf, France, from the Family History Center at a local LDS. I don't speak French so I had some difficulty picking through the information. I wasn't particularly successful because of that. However, I did find a record that might prove helpful. I found birth records for Henry in 1837(perhaps the one mentioned in my previous note). Henry's father is listed as "Jacques Gerwig" and "Madeleine Wolff." However, the father signed the form "Jacob Gerwig" - perhaps being a typical stubborn German and asserting his "Tuetonicity." (I figure I can say that since I'm about 90 percent German and lived there for 6 years.) I think it's possible that "Madeleine" was the mother's French name and her German name was Magdalene. Another record mentions the birth of Salome Gerwig in 1831 to George Jacques Gerwig and Madeleine Muellemann. The signature, while still "German," is different from that in the item above so these are two different men. I hope this helps.Brian ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
