My email has been all fouled up. Don't know if this has already gone through or not, so I will post it again. 150 Georgetown census corrections: On the first page (267) Under Jacob Pennypacker, his wife's name was omitted, it is Elizabeth, age44 On the same page under Eli BAINES, should be Eli BARNES. On page 267b under Joseph McFerran, his name should be JR. Under James Hartford age 61, the name of his son James, age 26 was omitted. On page 268 under James Thompson, his son Thomas should be 5/12 not 8/12 On page 268b under Caleb Whims, his child's name should be CORNELIA and not CORNELIUS, age 15 Under Joseph Penny his color should be (Mu) Sorry about this. Now I have the book I should have been using. Jean
Is anyone researching the 13th Virginia Regiment which was formed in 1777 from recruits in Yohogania and which was under the command of Col. Gibson at Ft. McIntosh (present day Beaver, Pa.) and possibly other forts in Ohio and West Virginia? I recently saw a wonderful article by Frank Carver at: http://192.204.74.2/beavercounty/BAHF/FortMc.Carver/Carver.Main.html which has an appendix that summarizes the muster rolls for the 12 companies of the 13th Virginia as well as four companies of the 8th Pennsylvania. Listed in the company of Capt. Springer is WILLIAM JENKINS, Sergeant, a fellow I believe to be my ancestor. The article is entitled FORT McINTOSH, THE STORY OF ITS HISTORY AND RESTORATION OF THE SITE, and is a wonderful depiction of frontier military life. The site also details the archaeology that has been done at the old fort which is fascinating in and of itself. If anyone knows how to access the original muster rolls and other related records of the 13th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Line, I would appreciate hearing from you. All the best. Craig Heberton
Later today there will be additions and corrections to the census I just posted. I'm sorry if this has inconvenienced anyone. The book I started with was not my revised one.
Sorry, No listings for those names. I am interested in your Jewell surname. Do you know was it ever spelled Juhl? and If so do you have any moving to Iowa? The following is part of the 1850 census of Georgetown Pa. The rest will follow in two parts. If you have any questions I will check with what I have copied to my notebook, but if this is still not what you expect or want then you will have to check the census film. I have tried to copy the names and dates as well as I could. Some may interpret them in another way, such as spelling of names. Even if I knew the name was spelled wrong, I still copied it as written. All person were born in Pa. unless otherwise noted. 1850 Georgetown. If you are so sweetly going to go to the trouble of posting the 1850 census, why not do it for the USGenWeb [Beaver Co.] census project so it will be permanently available? Cathy
Marigay, The Geographic Nameserver at MIT gives locations for Georgetown, PA in Adams, Armstrong, Beaver, Lancaster, Luzerne, and Northampton counties. Hi Jean, I for one would be very interested in seeing the 1850 Georgetown census. Jean, Hope you will post the 1850 census of Georgetown to the list. I'd be interested. By the way, do you know of any other Georgetowns in PA? Reason I'm asking--on the CAMODOC (California Modoc County list) there are divorce papers being transcribed and the woman in the suit was married at 15 in Georgetown, PA, in circa 1837 or 1847 (having a mid-life moment) Thought I'd write the transcriber and see if he'd mind me forwarding to PABeaver list. Thanks for any info, Marigay PS--how's that Reed Wallace family stuff you were working on? MH
Have hand copied the 1850 census of Georgetown and if anyone is interested I will add it here. I have 31 pages copied in my notebook and so far have 10 pages ready to send. If enough people are interested I will add the rest in two parts. Jean
