Georgetown is still here. If you take Route 168 through Shippingport and into Hookstown, you come to a stop sign. Turning left will keep you on Route 168, but if you go straight ahead and travel about 6 miles you will arrive in Georgetown. It is very small, about 30 houses all together. The postal area is much larger however, as it runs out route 168 towards Frankfort Springs. I know because it is my post office. Hope that helps. Joyce joyce@cobweb.net

Does this census thing take up to much of your space at one time? If so I can cut it down. I type it in a 9 font but when I transfer it it comes up in this large print. Jean

Hello, I just noticed the Web site with some of the history of Providence Baptist Church, in Beaver County near Ellwood City. The item is from an article by Marjorie Straub in Milestones Vol. 4 No. 4-Autumn 1978.I found the page by navigating from: http://192.204.74.2/AAAHome%20Page.html It starts: "On November 14, 1801 Brother Ezekiel Jones and his wife, Hannah, along with 21 charter members met to organize a new church under Elder Henry Spear, who probably was an intinerant Baptist preacher. The Providence Baptist Church is the oldest Baptist Church of worship in the county." This account mentions "early lists of members." Does anyone know anything about these early records or where they may be found? Since some of my ancestors are buried beside the church, I'd love to know what church records say about them. I have to assume they were members since they are buried there and one, Andrew Nye, appears in earlier Baptist records near Pittsburgh. Some accounts say that one of them (Michael Nye, son of Andrew Nye) was a Baptist minister. I'd love to find a source backing up that information. I am researching the family of Conrad and Frederica FLIEHMANN SCHLEITER. I am also interested in John and Margretha Schleiter MINKE and their descendants. I went to Oak Grove Cemetery and found many graves of their descendants. These include the BRANDT, MOHR, BISCHOFFBERGER, and EMERICK families. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who is also researching these families. Thank you, Gail Lillie
