    1. [PABEAVER-L] New name - KNOWLES, ROBINSON
    2. Marilyn Hesse
    3. Thanks to Sandy Day at the Schiappa Library in Steubenville I have climbed over a brick wall. Now I know the maiden name of my great great grandmother Sarah ROBINSON, nee KNOWLES. Although the family lived in Irondale Ohio for a period during the 1870s, most of their lives were spent in Beaver County. Is anyone else researching KNOWLES in Beaver County or Allegheny County? Sarah A. KNOWLES (b.1846 in PA; d.1906 in PA) married James N. ROBINSON (b. 1845 in PA)around 1865. They were farmers in Big Beaver Township in 1900. 3. Terry, I also have older children by Agnes(Nancy). The Isabella Borden is, I believe, the widow of Morris Borden, son of Francis and the mother of Mariah. The names and dates convince me but I do not have the records to prove it. The children carry on the names of Morris, Francis, John (another, albeit, common name) as well as Isabella. The dates all fit. I really don't know how to go about getting records in this time-period in PA. She's the one that I spoke to, I think that a couple years ago, can't remember, but I think it was on this list! I would appreciate more info on these three Solomon's! Are they all from Columbiana County area OH? This Solomon was supposedly from Col. Co. Oh married Anna Mary ? Solomon died about 1853. Son Henry married Nancy Smith. Henry's sons started the Faulk Brothers Grain Mill in East Liverpool. I understand, according to my information. 3. I may have a connection, but I am not sure. I have been trying for some time to find a John . Braden who married a Louisa Jane Stinson between 1874-1880. I believe she was his third wife. Louisa Jane was the widow of George Freed, and they livedi n Beaver county. She also went by the name Jennie. The 1900 census indicates that Jennie Braden is a widow, and apparently, John adopted her daughter Mary Annie Freed. The 1880 census shows John N. Braden, age 52, schoolteacher, in big Beaver Township with wife Jennie - however this census indicates he was born in PA, and his parents were born in Ireland. sigfileJudy Freed ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Curries" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 30, 2002 7:25 PM Subject: [PABEAVER-L] Braden/McIntire > Anyone recognize this group of people? > > John Braden, Sr., having grown up to > manhood, became the owner of a farm near Youngstown, Ohio, > and resided on the same until the breaking out of the war > of 1812 with Great Britain, when he joined the army and > served therein until the close of the war. 3. There's a couple entries in the Warner's Beaver county, PA History of 1888: There's a link to Walter Braden according to the second entry after this one, but here's something first! Walter S. Braden was a postmaster for New Brighton, appointed March 1, 1886. Walter S. Braden (East side), postmaster, New Brighton, was born in Beaver Falls, March 15, 1853, is the eldest son of A. B. C.R. (Boyle) Braden, who had nine children. His grandfather, John Braden, came from Ireland about 1790 soon afterward settled in Beaver county, where he was a farmer. He married Catherine McIntyre, who bore him 12 children; A. B. the youngest, was a farmer in early life, later engaged in mercantile business is now living a retired life in Beaver falls. Walter S. attended the common schools, the Iron City College at Pgh., from which institution he was graduated in 1872. He has been engaged in the mercantile real estate businesses. He was married in 1879 to Miss E.E. Goddard, daughter of John Goddard, of this town, they have four children: Laura, Edith, Karl, Naomi. Mr. Braden was appointed postmaster in 1886. He is a member of the Royal Arcanum; in politics a Democrat. If you know of other names let me know there are other names. It's always interesting doing these look-ups. I learn allot about Beaver counties pioneers every time I do these! Cool. Hope I helped. After the war John Braden, Sr., was married to Katherine McIntyre, daughter of William McIntyre, who was a native of Scotland, and in early times had migrated to this country, settling at Hagerstown, Md. John Braden and his wife Katherine, after their marriage, removed from near Youngstown Ohio, to Chippewa township, Beaver county, where they lived for over fifty years, having born to them a large family, amongst whom was John D.
