    1. [PABEAVER-L] Bruce Family
    2. Dorothea Silbert
    3. My Bruce ancestors lived in Slippery Rock area of Mercer, which then became Lawrence. In his will John Bruce left his land in Red Bank to his son Alexander and Jacob his youngest was to live with Alexander. I found Jacob living in Beaver Co Hopewell in 1850 and in Moon Twp in 1860. Does anyone know if any part of this area was called Red Bank? I never could find Alexander and he was not mentioned in his brother's will of 1826. So may be he died? Dorothea Wallace Silbert

    3. Alice: I am sorry to hear of the passing of such a great lady. Please convey my most sincere condolences to the family of Nancy Lindemann. I have tentatively planned a trip to Beaver Valley in the summer of 2003 and one thing on my agenda was to visit the Society and meet Nancy and thank her for all of the help she has given me in the past few years. It was through her that I joined the Society. Undoubtedly, she will be greatly missed around there. Thanks for keeping us outside of the local area informed. 3. Hello Charles: I am always pleased to see those familiar phrases that are a striking give-a-way that the person is from somewhere around Beaver County. That is: "I was down there a few years ago". It is always "down there" or "up there" and the writer rarely states where it is that they were "down there" or "up there" from. It is a dead give-away...you are definitely from the area. (Just kidding you a little..I do the same thing!) Shenango Twp. is now in Lawrence County, PA I have two booklets that list information many have found useful. I don't know if they will be of help to you or not. 1) I have a listing of Beaver Co. Marriages between 1830-1873 that were announced in the local newspapers there. I find Andrew SANDS (Raccoon twp.) married to Suzana Heath (Raccoon Twp.) by Thomas W. Ayers, Esq. on 1 Jun 1849. Also, I find an M. BOARDING (Pittsburgh) married to an M. SANDS (No twp. listed) by Rev. S. Hair on 31 Dec 1846. Also, I find Jacob HOOK (Ohio Twp.) married to Martha SANDS (Moon Twp) by John Kerr, Esq. on 17 Nov 1830. 2) I have a booklet listing Delayed Birth Registrations of records of birth from 1872 to 1905. These have a lot of information on them. I have a John Sylvester SANDS, Docket #2, Page #213. If he is in your line and you want to get a copy get back to me and I will tell you how to do that. Hope this helps. Bob Reese, Santee, CA (Email: [email protected]) Transplanted Beaver County-ite. 1. [PABEAVER-L] Re: News from ARIAS--Pennsylvania's Digital Archives
    2. Listers: A good site. Lots of data. Marybeth Corrigall ====================== << News from ARIAS--Pennsylvania's Digital Archives Pennsylvania State Archives Records from the Mexican Border Conflict are now available online through ARIAS (Archives Records Information Access System) at www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us. These cards, bearing the title "Mexican Emergency, Call of President, June 18, 1916," contain the following information about veterans: name and rank, regiment and company, age and place of birth, a physical description (height, complexion, hair and eye color), date of commission or enlistment into service, home station and date of rendezvous, and date of acceptance into United States service. Additional remarks may indicate the date that the soldier's enlistment was to expire and the name and address of a person to be contacted in case of an emergency. All of the cards also bear a stamp indicating that a Mexican Service Medal was issued to the veteran, along with a corresponding number. Along with this latest addition to the online digital archives, records from the Revolutionary War, World War I and the Spanish-American War are also available. For instructions on how to use ARIAS, click on the "How To?" link in the Navigation Bar at www.digitalarchives.state.pa.us. It also would be helpful to review the Frequently Asked Questions page. Note: If at any time you want to change or remove your address from our ARIAS mailing list, go to www.phmc.state.pa.us and use the e-mail manage feature. Your address will never be sold or traded. >>
