Hi Everyone: I just received the following and thought I'd pass it along to all of you. "...The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. It is time to remind folks on your state and county mailing lists about these scoundrels. It has been a couple of years since we have mentioned this. "Permission is granted to pass this on." Hi None of Jim's people are listed in Beaver Co. Wills-1800-1900, or Beaver Co. Marriages, 1830-1873.Sorry...save you looking there, anyway! Mary
Thanks.
Hi. Rena is right about Darlington . I was born in Beaver Co. Rochester, Pa. Found what Rena said is right when I was looking up my family. Good Luck [email protected] Catherine
There is a Darlington Township in Beaver County. It adjoins Columbiana County in Ohio. My Edwards ancestors lived in Darlington from 1860-1880, where they apparently died. They had many connections in Columbiana Ohio; in 1865 picked up mail at East Palestine, OH (Columbiana County), and several were buried in Columbiana. Beaver County was created 1800 from Washington and Allegheny Counties. Later, Lawrence County was created from Beaver County. This could account for the mixed locations you have encountered. Brian, There is a Darlington Twp in the Northwest corner of Beaver County adjacent to the Lawrence County line. The 1880 US Census is on line on the LDS website. It is searchable by name. As far as the spellings for both C_A_L_E_ or K_A_L_E_, neither one is in my McCords 1905 Columbiana County History, but there are others before 1905 in Carnegie Library in East Liverpool, downtown 4th street, like Barth to name one!
