    1. [PABeav'r] Somebody said...
    2. Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby... ... somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, normal is history. Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct... ... somebody never took a three-year-old shopping. Somebody said being a mother is boring... ... somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit. Somebody said a "good" mother never raises her voice... ... somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window. Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good"... ... somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee. Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother... ... somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math. Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in "the books"... ... somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears. Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back... ... somebody never organized seven giggling Brownies to sell cookies. Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first... ... somebody doesn't have five children. Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery... ... somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten-or on a plane headed for military "boot camp". Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married... ... somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son- or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings. Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home... ... somebody never had grandchildren. Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her... ... somebody isn't a mother.

    1. [PABeav'r] Beaver County Autograph Album
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old autograph album belonging to Jessie MCCONNEL of Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The album is dated from 1883-1884 and includes mostly poems, autographs, victorian stickers, etc. from friends. With help from a wonderful researcher I believe this is album belonged to Jessie MCCONNEL(L) b. 1871 daughter of William P. MCCONNEL(L) and Ellen MCMILLIN living in Bridgewater, Beaver Co., PA during the 1880 census. Jessie was one of four children the oldest being William H. MCCONNEL(L) b. 1855 in South Beaver, PA. William P. MCCONNEL(L) was one of 10 children, the son of John MCCONNEL(L) and Dortha WRIGHT. Jessie's brother William married Alice DEVER. Only two pages appear to contain entries from family members, they are: Mame of West Bridgewater, PA "cousin" Sibbie S. MCCONNEL "no relation specified" Other surnames mentioned in the album include: HERRON MITCHELL of Beaver Co., PA ANDREWS of Rochester, PA BOWERS of Beaver Co., PA COLEMAN of West Bridgewater, PA CAUGHY of Beaver, PA BELTZ of Beaver, PA DAUGHERTY BRUCE BROWN of West Bridgewater, PA STONE of Beaver, PA MCCABE of West Bridgewater, PA HAMILTON DOUTT of Bridgewater, PA WICKHAM PFUSCH ALEXANDER of Beaver, PA TAYLOR of Beaver, PA ANDERSON of Beaver, PA HOUSTON of Beaver, PA I'm hoping to locate someone from Jessie's family so that this wonderful old family heirloom can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

There's a major write-up in the local paper every year (The Evening Review). I went when I was a kid a couple times. Its a good place to observe what the other half does during the year see how farmers are continuing to prosper in small ways, by raising livestock carrying on the family tradition of raising livestock being proud of their farming heritage!
