In several queries lately I've noticed requests for locating cemeteries and villages throughout the area. There are at least two good sources on the net to help locate places. There may be others. One is http://www.mapquest.com/ where many old settlements are still identified throughout the area as well as the roads to get there. MapQuest also give street locations of most cities and towns in the US as well as many other places in the world. It is great for finding those small villages in Germany, in conjunction with http://www1.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm. The other is the US government at http://mapping.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html, where you enter details like "cemetery" and county and state and it gives you a list of those places found in its database (some old ones are not listed). You can also enter "township" and it will give all of the townships in an area. You can then identify the one of interest and it will give some details. From there you can then request the map of its location. I used the USGS to locate the Lawnhaven Cemetery and it clearly shows there is one on the north side of US422 west of Kittanning.
