I don't know about Armstrong County, but other area counties began issuing licenses and keeping records in 1885. You would have to contact the Armstrong Co. courthouse to find out how to go about requesting such a record. As to the death record, you could try writing to PA Vital Records (address follows). You would ask them to check one of the years you suspect she died in, and they would either notify you that they don't have a record for that year, or they would send you a death certificate. If they didn't have a record for that year, you would then send in a new request for the other year. Unfortunately, for each year you wish them to check, they would expect another fee. This fee is $3.00, and since you have 3 years in question, you could end up sending in 3 different requests, and spending $9.00 total. Another possible avenue of research would be to contact a library in Kittanning to see if they have a genealogy department, and if they perhaps have old newspapers on microfilm, and/or an obituary index. You may be able to get someone there to check these years for an obituary on this woman, which would then give you the information you need. Should such a service not be available through the library, check to see if there is a genealogical or historical society in the area, and check with them for an obituary. I hope this has helped somewhat. Irene Crawford JTJTJ5@aol.com Address for PA Vital Records P.O. Box 1528 New Castle, PA 16103
