Hello > By the late 1700's the Indians had been driven from the Armstrong > Co. area. Mostly the tribes here were the Delaware and some Shawnee coming > up from the southern part of the state, perhaps not quite as far as > Kittanning. > Thanks I was wondering which tribes where in Armstrong county, I lived an hours drive from the Seneca indian reservation in Salamanca New York, this reservation also crosses into Pa. and takes in some of the area around the Kinizu Dam. The Seneca nation has a museum for the Iroquois nations, on this reservation. I believe the the Delaware's, were not part of the Iroquois federation, but the Shawnee were. Plus I wonder how far south the Seneca's went into Pa.. Anyhow thanks for the information, on the tribes I find it very interesting.Warren Lambing -- Lambing Family Genealogy http://pages.prodigy.com/BYRL86A/lambing.htm
