    3. He' Friend, You are correct. However, with the encroachment of the colonists on their homeland pushing them westward, the Delaware did place themselves under the protection of the Iroquois from about 1730-1800 while they lived in the Susquehannah Valley and central PA. At that time, numerous displaced tribal groups had migrated into the Susquehannah Valley which was "administered" by the Iroquois Confederacy. Nowadays, there is frequently talk of bringing the PA [descendant] Delaware nations under the Confederacy again. We are seeking instead to unite all Native nations in a confederacy which will preserve our individual tribal identities.
