    1. Re: [PAARMSTR-L] Introduction
    2. Dan, Sounds like you have a good start on your research. >I am attempting to find HIRAM's father. I >found HIRAM as a child in the 1860 census with his sister, MARGARET, b. >1842. HIRAM'S mother, ANN (b. abt. 1802 in PA), is listed as widow. I'm >absolutely stuck. I've combed every JAMISON record at the FHL and >searched the internet. There must be a cemetery in Atwood where he, >ANN'S husband. is buried. Any suggestions ? He would have been born in >PA. The Armstrong County courthouse holds records of Deeds, Mortgages, Leases, and Estate papers from 1805 to the present. They charch a $5.00 search fee for information of genealogical records, and a $1.00/page fee for copies. It might be worth a shot to check with them. They were very helpful over the phone, and they responded very quickly by mail. They said I needed to fill out their form to request the copies. In my first letter to them, I asked for the form, and told them what I was looking for. They gave me an estimate of the costs in my return envelope with the form. They also have a fee structure for Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates, but your dates won't work with those. Marriage License copies (Oct. 1885-present) $1.00 Marriage License duplicates (Oct. 1885-present) $4.00 Death Certificates (1893-1905) $3.00 Birth Certificates (1893-1905) $4.00 After 1905, records are kept at New Castle (Armstrong Co. will provide you with forms). I contacted them at : (412) 548-3280 >I'm also subscribed to the Jeferfson and Indiana lists, but I've never >received anything on the PAINDIAN-L list. I had trouble on several lists because of the way my server lists its return address--all I had to do was contact the list owner, and the problem got resolved. It could also just be a really slow list--not all are as active as this one! Good luck in your search! Patti
