Hi, This is my first post to the list. My name is Dan Jamison and I live in San Diego, California, and no, my house did not slide into the sea. I'm 34, a CPA and employed by the federal government out here. All of my family is from Armstrong, Jefferson and Indiana Counties. I have compiled a database of over 700 persons in Family Origins of relation to me. On my paternal side, I am researching JAMISON (JEMISON), TRAVIS, SHARP, LIAS (ELIAS), MINICH, GILHOUSEN, GAHAGEN, HAZLETT, DICKSON, LEFEVER, MCLEAN, MCCAUSLAND, MYERS and others. On my maternal side, I am researching RUDOLPH, LLOYD, DOUGLAS, MINISH, WINSLOW, ARNOLD, STIVER (STAIBER), REICHARD and others. My biggest challeng has been finding my g-g-g-gfather. My last found JAMISON was HIRAM THOMAS JEMISON, b.7/26/1846 in Cowanshannock Twp. The 1880 census lists him with seven of his ten children. This is definitely my g-g-gfather relation. I am attempting to find HIRAM's father. I found HIRAM as a child in the 1860 census with his sister, MARGARET, b. 1842. HIRAM'S mother, ANN (b. abt. 1802 in PA), is listed as widow. I'm absolutely stuck. I've combed every JAMISON record at the FHL and searched the internet. There must be a cemetery in Atwood where he, ANN'S husband. is buried. Any suggestions ? He would have been born in PA. I was recently given "History of Armstrong County", Smith, 1883, 624pp. It is quite useful and I'd be happy to do any lookups for information. I'm also subscribed to the Jeferfson and Indiana lists, but I've never received anything on the PAINDIAN-L list. I will share everything that I have. Looking forward to learning with all of you.
