    3. Hi y'all, There seems to be a lot of discussion about the way postings to this list should be so I'll try to clear things up a bit. 1. As far as PAARMSTR-L showing in the subject: this is the way that I elected for Rootsweb to show this; the advantage being that most people are signed up on more than one list & when they set up their mailing program to filter messages or if they want to simply scan the subject line, they can identify the sender quickly. The subject line should be showing the subject of your post and it's much easier to read if it's in all caps. If your showing a surname, do not put spaces between the letters! Hence Caldwell should show as CALDWELL. When replying to a message, please look at the subject line & if your reply isn't on the same subject, change the line to reflect what your posting. 2. As far as signature lines; this should be left to the choice of the sender. Some of us love to use long signature lines others use none. I've made many connections from signature lines alone. 3. Now to replies going to the list; when someone makes a request to the list, it's posted for all to read. The concensus of most members is that the reply to a question should be posted for all to read. If your simply thanking someone for work done or want to make general comments only applicable to one person, please address these to the person in question and not the entire list. Again please look when using "reply to sender" and if your reply should not go to the entire list, change the sender address. This list has been set up for all replies to go back to the list. 4. When replying to a message, don't resend the entire message back. Use the cut & paste method; only sending back what is pertinant to your reply. These lists are quite active with lots of messages going back & forth so we all need to be considerate of our posts! If anyone has any comments on this post, please send it to me privately & not to the entire list. Keep up the good work & happy hunting! Patti Caldwell, Listmistress <impattic@mediaone.net>
