There are references to Christopher Oury (Urich or Ourich) in 7 pages of the "History of Armstrong Co.", most of which refer to real estate. I will give you a summary tonight and will send more detail when I have time to read it all. He had a tract of land of 312 1/2 acres in Kittanning Twp. which was seated by Richard Graham and Abrahm Tiscus. Apparently, it was next to a tract seated by Jacob Schrecengost. In 1805-6 he was assessed with 300 1/2 acres, 1 distillery, three horses, three cattle, $345.50. In 1806, $350.50. "A notable point in early times was on the Christopher Oury tract, where Richard Graham settled and kept an inn, which was a favorite resort for pleasure parties from Kittanning and elsewhere." page 182. On May 26, 1826, a sermon was preached on the sixth and seventh verses of Colossians on a five acre tract donated to the church by Christopher. More later!!!
