Maureen, After a search through my Armstrong Co. records (including "If These Hills Could Talk"), I have nothing on your Nicholas SNOW & Rachel SHIRLEY other than in the 1850 Census--which I assume you have already seen. I also checked through Venango Co. records for your MILLER (except census, which I don't have). Both SNOW and SHIRLEY were well-represented in the 1850 Census, but strangely very few show up elsewhere. I found several SNOWs who married into my various families, but the one I remembered was Phoebe, b ca 1804, d 1882, m Isaac STEEL Jr.; this is in Perry Tp. There was also an E F. SNOW who m Ange ELDER (b ca 1877) who lived in East Brady, Clarion Co--I believe he was the s/o Dale SNOW. Others I found in my family records: Barbara SNOW, d/o Gordon SNOW. Sarah Catherine SNOW, d/o Mary Ann (SWEET) SNOW, b ca 1880 m Benjamin F. BARGER, 11 Apr 1897, Hillville, Armstrong Co PA. Laton Early SNOW Charity HINZMAN Son Abram H SNOW, b 1870, m Ida "Della" CUTRIGHT Son Dalton Hopson SNOW, b 1904, m Nona May HORNBECK Dau Hilda Lea SNOW, 16 Oct 1936 m/1 Mr. SEXTON & m/2 1968, Ralph Hall SAYRE. Cemetery records: Phoebe (SNOW) STEEL (mentioned above is bur beside her husband in the Isaac Steel Cem. The HILES (these are probably STEEL-related) & SNOW Cemteries are located near each other on each side of the joint property line between the HILES and SNOW farms (in Perry Tp). In the SNOW Cem were the following: SNOW, Jacob C. - died Sept 16, 1885, aged 81 yrs, 1mo SNOW, Harry R. - son of J. C. and M. O. SNOW, died Oct 13 1885, aged 7 yrs 11 mos, 13 days, "our darling." BLYMILLER, Margaret J. - daughter of Jacob SNOW, died Aug 10, 1864, aged 23 yrs. 1 mo 2 days. SNOW, W. M. Wallace - son of Thomas and Fannie SNOW, died May 15, 1885, aged 14 yrs 11 mos 18 day. SNOW, Infant - child of Thomas and F. SNOW, died Mar 6, 1859; "our babe" Other graves here are BYERS, HENDERSON & KISON. In the SHAKLEY Cem: SNOW, Joseph R. - died May 2, 1881, aged 7 yrs 7 mos 27 days Considering the numbe of SNOW families in the 1850 Census and the dearth of SNOW records in Armstrong Co., my only suggestion would be to concentrate on surrounding counties; it would appear the families did not remain in Armstrong. Clarion and Butler Cos. would be my first option--also check later census records in Venango. Sorry I could be of no more help. Sharon A.
