My g-gf Absalom B. Remaley, b.1837, was known to be a teacher and in his obit, d.1929, it says that he served in the profession for nearly 50 years. In a newspaper article regarding his daughter's marriage he is refered to as Prof. A.B. Remaley. Does anyone know if he ran a private school or how I might find information on public school teachers in the late 1800's? He lived in the area of Cochran's Mills - Girty, Burrell Twp., Armstrong Co.
