Hi Bev in Calif., It's very likely that my John McDonald did not come to Armstrong County by himself, since he would only have been 10 to 18 years old when he arrived. A family story says that there was several members of the family that arrived in Armstrong County to join other relatives that were already living there (Armstrong County area) working in the mines. The whole family (as near as I can determine) were miners. All of John and Polly's children have been accounted for except for John Jr. born abt 1829. I think he married there and probably stayed there when the family left for Ohio about 1854/55. They were in Jackson County, Ohio in 1857. Harold In Florida
