Hi again Jim, This is my first attempt at researching HAMILTON. I don't have much to go on, so I'm "fishing". A 3rd great grandmother is Mary EVANS born about 1831 in Clarion Co., PA, according to her daughter's death certificate. Of course, we know that Clarion County was not in existance until about 1840, so I started looking in Armstrong Co., PA, for possible father. I narrowed it down to George EVANS. Then I got a hit from someone who had an ancestor, Sarah, born in 1826. She and her husband went to Missouri. Her obit said she was born in Clarion Co., PA. Her descendant said her parents were George EVANS and Barbara HAMILTON. This information was family history handed down to her. She didn't realize Clarion was once Armstrong Co. and didn't think to look there. In 1850 and 1860 George and Barbara EVANS/EVINS are in Madison Co., PA, same place as daughter Mary who was married to Malachi BUZARD; 2nd James WALLACE. She was living in New Bethlehem, Clarion Co., in 1880. I haven't been able to find anything after that. Mary's ancestors are somewhere between speculation and preponderance of the evidence. However, I still want to see what I can find. Of course, it's possible Barbara was from somewhere else, but I thought I'd give Armstrong Co. a try since there's other HAMILTONs there. Would love to have your info on Thomas. Perhaps we can brain storm together. Would you like to do it off list and then if we have anything good to report we'll post to the list? In the meantime, if anyone wants to come aboard, jump in.
