    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Reed/Young-Armstrong Co/Clarion Co, PA
    2. Hello all! I am researching my ggGrandmother's lineage. Her maiden name was Mary E Reed (b. about 1864 in PA) (she was of Armstrong and Clarion Counties in PA).  She married David W. Young (b.about 1860 in PA).  From looking through the censuses for the time period of her youth and those areas of PA, I find only one Mary E Reed that fits her age, name and location.   The family I find, that may possibly be her family is that of Aaron Reed b. about 1835 in PA m. to Susannah ? (Williard maybe)b. about 1845 in PA.  They are shown in the 1880 census as having the following children Mary E Reed (I believe this may be my ggGrandma, same name, same age)b. about 1864, William H Reed b. about 1865, James Reed b. about 1866, Sarah Reed b. about 1868, John A Reed b. about 1870, Emma Reed b. about 1872, Susanah Reed b. about 1874, George E Reed b. about 1876, and Irvin Reed b. about 1879 (all born in PA) I am wondering if any of you know of this Reed family from the 1880 census, especially Mary E Reed (the daughter) and who she married.  I am looking to see if she is the Mary E Reed that did in fact marry my ggGrandfather David W Young, making her my ggGrandmother???   Depending on the census years determining whether it was Armstrong or Clarion County, these families of Reed and Young, along with my other ancestors the Sherman family lived closed by eachother (often same Street/Road)! I appreciate any help that you can offer!  Thank you very much! ~Karen George Smith ...Searching Family Tree surnames: George,Chestnut,Adams,Boone,Bowser/Bausser,Edelmann,Sherman, Young,Heeter,Reed,Johnston,Corson(Courson),Downing...(Many from in/around Armstrong,Clarion,Berks,Northumberland Co.'s of PA)

    3. Hi, If you haven't tried Treasures of the Past under the rootsweb.com. freepages area, please do. Look on rootsweb homepage and the freepages category is found in the lower left-hand corner. Clip on that, type in 'treasures' and it will take you to lots and lots of information, from cemetery and funeral home info, to marriages, to historical book info, to other researchers' names working on your lines, to orphans court records. Be sure to explore all of the site-it grows day by day. The first few times I was on it, I didn't realize its scope and only found a few cemetary records. A kind lister in FL suggested that I check it again and be sure to go to the bottom of the site where the search box was and BINGO-now I have two gg grandparents' burial, lots of additional info on their siblings-even found some I knew about, but didn't realize lived in that area. There are also maps with owners names, and mapped cemetery's that you click on and it gives you all who are buried there and often their spouse and children are identifiable because the plot numbers are listed. Have you had someone on PACen do a census lookup for you? They are very kind and will check one person/request. Subscribe to that rootsweb list also. I am sure you have checked the archives, just in case you haven't recently, keep returning as it changes dramatically by the week. Locally I have a friend who is working on the Young family, but I think his are in Erie county. I'll check with him and let you know. Susan Eppich
