    3. Hello, I recently joined the list. I have been a genealogist since 1988, and am researching the following surnames: BEERS, BOWERSOX, GARDNER, GULNAC, MOODY, MYERS, POTTER, SHARP, SHOUP, STAHLMAN, TERWILLIGER. Most families have been in Clarion County (except Gardner and Sharp), and some were also in either Armstrong or Venango before 1839. I have done a lot of volunteer work for the Wood County (Ohio) Genealogical Society, and have done paid research in Wood County in the past. My G-G-G grandfather Solomon Terwilliger was in Clarion Twp., Armstrong Co., PA in 1840 with wife Phoebe and 7 children. According to my G-G grandfather William Terwilliger's obituary, he was born in Clarion Twp. Feb 18, 1838 and the family moved to Millcreek Twp. when he was 3 months old (Clarion Democrat, 20 June 1912). Solomon bought a farm on the Old State Road in what became Millcreek Twp, Clarion Co, PA. My Dad has told me that Solomon kept an inn. Did individuals need a license to open/keep an inn/tavern in Armstrong County during that time period? I know that a license was needed in Wood County, Ohio. If these records exist, where would I find them? Thank you, Lori Terwilliger BEERS, BOWERSOX, GULNAC, MOODY, MYERS, POTTER, SHARP, SHOUP, STAHLMAN, TERWILLIGER
