Connie, I was so sorry that I missed you when I came to Pennsylvania in May. It was such a fun trip and just seeing the places my ancestors had traveled and lived was worth the trip. We were in Big Run where both my grandparents and my father were born. I guess the main things I found were obituaries where the Historical societies had files of them. One week wasn't enough time. Lillian, I'm sorry also that I didn't get a chance to meet with you when you were in at the library in Kittanning. I saw your name in the book when I was in the next week. I wish you would have had one of the girls call me at home and I would have run in. You mention "Big Run", my grandfather Shaffer said how he and his friends used to run the area of "Big Run". He said of course they didn't have cars or even horses and they would just run over the hills. I should be in that kind of shape. I hope you made some big finds while in PA. I've gotten of on a side-track. I've been searching for the Paxton Family. that would be on my grandmother's side. Blanche Barr Fitzgerald. The Barr's and the Paxton's married around Centre Co., PA. Fall is in the air here in Armstrong Co. Warm during the day, but the evenings really cool off. We've had lots of rain this summer, so I have some really great flower beds, but of course the weeds grew also and so did the grass. My husband mows about 12-15 acres. He uses a big tractor, so it's not to hard. I would love to come someday to Oregon, Washington area. I've never been west of the Mississippi. Actually, I've been to Branson, MO, but didn't do much site seeing. My daughter works everyday and never has a day off, so it is hard to break her loose to travel around. Ray isn't much interested in traveling, he is content here on the farm with his 3 dogs. Good to hear from you.
