Donna There are counties that will issue a death certificate, all nicely done on parchment paper etc. for a fee of $7.00, I believe. I do not know if Armstrong county is one of them. But it is a futile expense, because the county will also forward the same information in a less 'formal' manner for a much lower expense. You probably do not want to spend the extra money for the same information. Many of the early records are spotty at best, and the county requirements for information are much less than the state requires. Also, even state records can be spotty in the early years, and be missing some information. But definitely, go ahead and inquire whether or not the information was registered. It is worth a try. The county kept records from 1893-1905, and then Pennsylvania started the state vital statistics in 1906.
