Can anyone tell me if there is list similar to this one for Indiana County. I was researching my family in Armstrong County, but now think my gg-grandfather lived in Indiana first. My grandmother once told me she used to visit some family in Indiana as a child, so I do think the Robet Stewart in the 1880 Indiana Census is my gg-grandfather. The age is right. I am now baffled as to why he has a different last name as the people who are listed with him and don't know what my next step should be. If any of you have any connections to Stewart's or Kerr's from Indiana, please contact me. Thanks! Linda Watson [email protected] (800) 541-0556 x7917 Armstrong Co, PA 1910 ED 11, Fam. 150 Robert A. I have had several responses to my request for a lookup in these with no results. There were other questions however so I am posting this to the entire list. I have finally decided to start researching my Western Pennsylvania Ancestors. This is regarding the family of James B Morrison, blacksmith. The family appears in the Sugar Creek Township in 1860 and in East Franklin in 1870. In that family is Nancy Morrison age 13 in 1860 who married 1865 in Bradys Bend a William Penberthy. My ancestors. The death record for Nancy, 1926, completed by son James b.1856, said she was 79 and born in Armstrong Co and that her father was James B Morrison and mother was Rebecca Schreder. (secondary information!) I have been unable to locate an 1850 census record. The 1860 record is the correct one because the children's names are mentioned in later family letters. The mother in the 1860 record is a Mary Ann which is a long way from Rebecca unless it is a second marriage. I have looked at census records for all Morrisons in Armstrong 1850 and all J / James Morrisons in Armstrong, Venango and Butler Co. The James Morrison in Bradys Bend page 032 in 1850 is not the correct person. I suspect he was called James B Morrison to differentiate from the other James Morrison. I did notice in the will indexes as listing for a James Morrison for 1892 so I will pursue that next. Next stop the local FHC for land, will, court and church records. I go back to Atlantic City for vacation each year and spend 1-2 days researching at the Historic Society of Pennsylvania. Last trip I saw they had a number of rolls of bible records from Armstrong so I will put in a day there. I have looked at spelling variations of Morrison, Morris, Morisson, Morrissonn etc. I am about halfway through the line by line examination of the 1850 Armstrong census but don't believe I will find everything. More information can be found on my web page which is still at www.fastlane.net/~johnh . This will be moved soon because fastlane threw out all us dial up customers. I can always be reached now at [email protected]
Hi Charles, In your Morrison research have you come across the following family? My Chaney line lived in the Tidal area, Armstrong Co. The following is all the information I have on Anna - would like to learn more. I don't know her birth or death date, if she moved to Ohio or if her family moved there after her death. Her parents, John Chaney and Suphronia Myers, married about 1858. My Chaney line comes from her brother, William Wallace Chaney. Thanks, Lona [email protected] WILLIAM B1 MORRISON He married ANNA L CHANEY, daughter of JOHN CHANEY and SUPHRONIA MYERS. She was born in Pa., and died Bef. 1898. I have a couple of MORRISONs in my database: Nancy MORRISON, b. 10 Oct, 1834; d., 3 Nov. 1895; m. Olivar Bovard FULTON. Nancy was the daughter of John MORRISON, Jr. and Jane (last name unknown). Nancy and Oliver had 4 children. Martha J. MORRISON, b. Sep. 1832; m. James FULTON. Martha and James had at least 6 children. These are not in my direct line but I have source references for them as well as a small bit more information. Hi John, I don't have any specific information but I am interested in your message. I have an Isaac and Catherine (WINGARD) SILVIS family of Allegheny Twp, Armstrong Co. They named one child Morrison and another child James Morrison. James was born in 1849. These do not seem to be family names so I have assumed that they are named after a family friend. Isaac and Catherine were born in Westmoreland Co. before moving to Armstrong abt 1829. I see that there is a James MORRISON in the 1850 census Allegheny Twp. Westmoreland Co. pg. 335. Have you checked this one out yet? I would be interested in hearing more if you find your James MORRISON. Hi John, I am related to this Morrison family through James B and Rebecca Schrader Morrison's first born child Milton B Morrison. I'll be glad to help you all I can. You can email me at [email protected] In the 1850 census I believe the family can be found in South Buffalo township, Armstrong county PA Page 104. I have information that Nancy Morrison married a James B Pemberthy? Is that information incorrect? Please respond. I also had that Nancy was the mother of thirteen children; 1) Elizabeth Pemberthy married a Mr. Van Fosen 2) Thomas 3) Anna who married a Mr. Anderson 4) William 5) Edward 6) Harry 7) John 8) James 9) Jennie who married a Mr. Smith 10) Katie who married a Mr. Shifley 11) Mary who married a Mr. Linden 12) Cora who married a Mr Vercythe 13) Ella who married a Mr. Van Fosen "The death record for Nancy, 1926, completed by son James b. 1856" This James is Nancy's brother I believe not her son. The 1860 census record is the correct family indeed and Mary Ann is a second wife. Sometime after 1870, James B Morrison moved to Surprise, Butler county Nebraska and opened the first Grocery store in the County. James was the son of John Morrison and Nancy Barnes. James was married three times. He had nine children to his first wife Elizabeth Schrader (also seen as Srader) who died Jan 14 1858. He then married Mary Ann Meldren who was born in England and died at age 64 on April 23 1889. There were two children born to this marriage. On Nov 21 1889 James married Mrs. Lovina Elliott who was born Sept 29 1824 in England and survived him by about six years. Lovina died in Surprise on Feb 15 1909. I hope this helps. Please get back to me on this. Becky Murphy Dahl John Hogg wrote: > > I have had several responses to my request for a lookup in these with no > results.
