Thank you VERY much for this info! This has opened up a whole new door for me. I was able to find Jacob and Mary in 1870 and 1880, still in Brownsburg, Indiana, but the children still elude me. I assume that as they got older they obviously moved out of the house and possibly out of the state. Anyway, thanks again. I now have more leads to follow! That family appears in the 1860 census in Brownsburg, Hendricks Co, Indiana (page 255) as WELSHAN. Thare are now also Louisa (11-PA), Milton N(7-IN), Thomas(4-IN), and Charles F(1-IN). The LDS FamilySearch website gives one entry that might match son William WELSHANS. Individual Record FamilySearchT Ancestral File v4.19 William James WELSHANS (AFN: 1FN2-NFD) Birth: Abt. 1845<, Randolph, Illinois> Spouse: Martha C HIGGINS (AFN: 1FN2-NGL) Marriage: 5 Sep 1867 Submitter name and address on website. None of the family appears in the 1870 or 1880 census under the name of WELSHAN/WELSHANS. They may have moved to Canada, however, there are no matches in the 1881 Canada census.
