Gretchen, Have you tried to locate the Funeral Home that handled Mary Hoover Reed's services? Even if that particular Home is under different management, the old records generally stay with that Home or are taken to another Funeral Home in the area. They can often provide a great amount of information. It's certainly worth a try. Usually, Funeral Homes are very considerate & helpful to those of us in search of our ancestry. Good luck.
