Hi List, I just received a marriage date for my grandfather's 2nd marriage but I don't know where it took place. The marriage took place Oct. 27,1921 and it was between Alexander REED & Bessie CRAMER. In 1920 his 3 children were living with their grandmother Elizabeth Hoover in White Township, Indiana County so I would think he was in that general area at the time. At some point he wound up in Millwood, Derry and other small towns so I'm not sure which county would cover this marriage. I also know he had a third marriage that took place around 1931-32 to Ruth AUEN or MILLER. One of those is her married name , the other her maiden, not sure which. At this point he was in the area covered by the Derry Area HS because all his children went there through highschool. They lived a ways from the school because they took a car (probably they were not licensed) to school. Any ideas on how I could get either of these marriage records? Thanks, Gretchen
Hi Gretchen: I think you're going to have to write letters. Start with the county you think they lived and start spreading out if you don't get lucky the first time. You can get addresses at <vitalrec.com>. When you get there scroll down to the state and that should take you to the counties where the marriage records would be. In case you don't know, ask for the marriage application since that's where the genealogical information would be. Someone was suggestion to ask for the entire marriage file because you might be information about a previous marriage. You might try that. Good luck.... and don't give up!
