    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Mary Hindman WYLIE
    2. James Hindman
    3. Am posting this message to both the Armstrong and Butler County lists. John HINDMAN of Concord Township, Butler County, formerly of Franklin Township, Armstrong County, died about June 1862. He left a will (Butler County Will Book D, page 156) in which he named four daughters Elizabeth HUSTIN, Mary WILEY (sic), Sarah CAMPBELL, and Margaret BARR, and son-in-law, William RAMSEY. David J. RUSSELL and Robert W. CAMPBELL were named as executors of the will. Robert W. CAMPBELL was the husband of Sarah CAMPBELL, named above, and David J. RUSSELL was most likely a brother-in-law of John HINDMAN. It took until 1873 for all the inheritance money to be paid to the heirs. In the case of Mary WILEY, payments of $165, plus $21.72 interest representing the last of the $300 willed to Mary WYLIE by John HINDMAN, was made 13 Oct 1873, and was signed for by William L. WYLIE, as Guardian of the Heirs of Mary WYLIE. I'm assuming that William L. WYLIE was the widower of Mary Hindman WYLIE, but can't determine where they lived or when she died. As all the daughters of John HINDMAN and his first wife, Nancy HALL, were raised in Armstrong County, it seems likely the daughters married men from Armstrong County, although in the case of Robert W. CAMPBELL, this was not so. The 1870 census for East Franklin Township, Armstrong County, shows William WYLIE, age 47, with wife Rosannah J., 35, and children, Laird, 9, Ross Hall, 4, and Ella Jane, 2. Does anyone know if Rosannah was the second wife of William WYLIE, who helped him to raise the children from his deceased first wife Mary? Jim Hindman
