My Greens are in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania which is one county north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. William and Daniel Green settled there in the 1784-1791 period coming from Fayette County Pennsylvania south of Pittsburgh, and then earlier from Sussex County, New Jersey. William was a Loyalist in the Revolution and lost his land in and around Johnsonsburg, Freylinghuysen Township, Sussex Co., NJ. William and Daniel had brothers George, Adam, and John. Adam and John later went to Ontario for land as United Empire Loyalists. Their father was Samuel Green Senior deputy surveyor of West New Jersey colony. He died in 1760 and I just located his burial area in the Dark Moon Cemetery outside of Johnsonsburg. Samuel's son, Samuel Jr., by his first marriage was instrumental in the founding of Hope.NJ, a Moravian settlement. George Green died a war prisioner in the Revolution. He had four sons. One son Richard may have gone west with William and Daniel. Search Objective: looking for all the Greens in Armstrong County from 1790 to 1850. I have one other Green family, then a mysterious Rebecca Green with lots of children in the 1830 Census for Sugarcreek Township. I believe she may be my missing link. I will share information will anyone who is related. Related family names are McCullough, Huey, Fitzgerald, Gould, Cook (from New Jersey). Descendents of William Green believe he was a Patriot in the Revolution. They have William as a William from Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. The problem however is that there are death certificates in Armstrong County courthouse that have two of William's children as born in New Jersey, plus the Fayette County records all suggest that William Green and Daniel Green came west with Glovers and Nixons from Sussex County, who like William chose the wrong side in the revolution.
