Oh dear, I am so sorry to have sent personal mail to the list. My mistake. Connie Mateer
I am looking for any information on James H. Kelly who married Sara C. Jamison. They had the following children: Gertrude, Meade, Blaine, Joseph, and Wilda. Gertrude married Jacob Earl Hineman, and Wilda married Unknown Clark. Thanks. Irene Boydston Ringgold, GA
Lillian, I'm sorry also that I didn't get a chance to meet with you when you were in at the library in Kittanning. I saw your name in the book when I was in the next week. I wish you would have had one of the girls call me at home and I would have run in. You mention "Big Run", my grandfather Shaffer said how he and his friends used to run the area of "Big Run". He said of course they didn't have cars or even horses and they would just run over the hills. I should be in that kind of shape. I hope you made some big finds while in PA. I've gotten of on a side-track. I've been searching for the Paxton Family. that would be on my grandmother's side. Blanche Barr Fitzgerald. The Barr's and the Paxton's married around Centre Co., PA. Fall is in the air here in Armstrong Co. Warm during the day, but the evenings really cool off. We've had lots of rain this summer, so I have some really great flower beds, but of course the weeds grew also and so did the grass. My husband mows about 12-15 acres. He uses a big tractor, so it's not to hard. I would love to come someday to Oregon, Washington area. I've never been west of the Mississippi. Actually, I've been to Branson, MO, but didn't do much site seeing. My daughter works everyday and never has a day off, so it is hard to break her loose to travel around. Ray isn't much interested in traveling, he is content here on the farm with his 3 dogs. Good to hear from you. Thanks to everyone for all the help. The problem has been solved by a computor consultant in California. I will now back up more often. Libby
I too am a computer consultant and it is not necessary to uninstall. If you do uninstall, make a copy of your database. Scott Libby: I see you already have two replies to your question...My son is a computor consultant and this also is his advice..un install FTW...I also have version 7.5, my friends have version 10, and now they have come out with version 11.....After you un install, use the CD that they provided you, and install the program again..It should correct the problem..Pearl in California Swgrinder@aol.com wrote:Try reinstalling FTW. Libby, Not sure if this is the same problem I had or not. My message said something about DLL.32 not working. I had to got to regional settings and change my language to anything but English-USA, reboot and then change the language back again. Sounds silly but it worked, and that's what my FTM book said to do. Hope you get it fixed. For what it's worth, my ELDER line can be seen on this web page. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~mcclell2/homepage/elder.htm Ed McClelland, Alexandria, Virginia.
Hi, Can someone tell me if there is a library or something in Kittanning where I can get a obit lookup? I would prefer to email them but any info would help. Or, if someone is willing to do a lookup for me, I would appreciate it. The obits I am seeking are James Coughlin Jr. died Nov. 16, 1963 and Ida M. (Foster) Coughlin died Jan. 19, 1942. They lived in Kittanning. Thank you very much, Cindy
First, please excuse the delay in answering the query and comments re Amanda Emma ELDER and her family. My computer has been in for repairs and update. Second, re the info which appears in the book "James ELDER, Sr...................., etc" I was the author of this genealogy; Lavon Mundinger, Ann Brooks and Shelba Davis were assistants and editors of this work. Each of us has spent approximately 40 years in genealogical research, and are well aware of the importance of documentation. The book itself was 5 years in the compiling. Third, In the front of the book under "Symbology" appeared the following statement: Superscripted numbers after an entry indicates the number of the source of information appearing in the back of the book. Please remember that a source is NOT always documentation. Much material on our families came from individual descendants and their personal family records. We believe them to be accurate, or will state in the source what degree of accuracy we deem them to be. However, many of the sources do reference documents which can be traced or copies made." Anyone who has been in genealogical research for any length of time and compiled records runs into this same problem. The intent is to place as much information as possible in the hands of other researches. It is impossible to document everything going into the compilation. The four of us did much research, contributed our findings, and because of the need for some sort of record on this family, asked for and received material from many descendants. Even wrong information sometimes leads us to the truth; any written genealogy should always be looked upon as a research tool, not a shortcut to our family history. We do now--as we did then--welcome any additions or corrections to this. Our original intent was to compile and send out a supplement with additions and corrections the following year. However, due to health problems beyond my control, I have been unable to do so. I still hope to do so, but am not placing any time limit. The information from Charles Starr was first sent to Ann Brooks, a renowned researcher in the ELDER family, even though she is not a descendant of our James ELDER, Sr. As I recall at that time Mr Starr indicated that the information he had gathered was not complete, and he had not yet documented it. There was not intent to pass this on as truth. I do appreciate the information sent to this newsletter regarding Amanda Emma, and will as soon as I can do more research on this myself.
