Actually that's Oak Ridge (my home town) - what you want is to stay on 28 North out of New Bethlehem, you'll go through Hawthorn. About 3/4 of a mile past Hawthorn you'll come to 536 on the right, take that and it takes you right into Mayport (not even a mile). -----Original Message----- From: Harriet McClaine [mailto:heellie@nauticom.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 8:10 PM To: PAARMSTR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [PAARMSTR-L] Question - Mayport/Maysville MAYPORT is in or near New Bethlehem, PA You go through New B.......Mayport is next town if I am remembering right. The road goes to the right going under an underpass. Someone else may get you closer to your destination.. ==== PAARMSTR Mailing List ====
I'm working on a line that's said to be located in "Mayport" of Clarion/Armstrong. Might that be confused with "Maysville" in the Red Bank area? Tom
The Lankerd-Thomas Genealogical Library in Kittanning, Armstrong Co., PA. will continue to be closed for repairs to the foundation of the carriage house. We were hoping to open this Tuesday, but the work has hardly begun. It will probably take 3-4 weeks more, then the library closes for the winter on November 6. Call before making the trip. 724-548-5707. Sorry for the inconvenience. Connie Mateer
Lee Ann -- Did you ever get an answer to this question--My great grand father John Patterson Massey was born in Virginia and I have not been able to find him in the last four years--If the answer to your question was positive I may have another avenue to explore-- Thanks Mark Massey ----- Original Message ----- From: "Fred H Held" <fhheld@netzero.net> To: <PAARMSTR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 26, 2003 10:23 PM Subject: Re: [PAARMSTR-L] was Armstrong Co. ever part of VA? > Yes > > At 08:00 PM 8/26/03 -0600, you wrote: > >From: "Lee Anne Center" <lacenter@comcast.net> > >To: PAARMSTR-L@rootsweb.com > >Subject: [PAARMSTR-L] was Armstrong Co. ever part of VA? > > > >Was Armstrong Co. ever part of VA? > > > >Lee Anne > > > ==== PAARMSTR Mailing List ==== > >

When I visited St. Patricks a few years ago, I ran into the caretaker (of the historic church) who had a printed book of records. She was kind enough to come back with the book and verify a marriage for me. I think it was an anniversary booklet of some kind. Hopefully someone on the list has a copy. Does anyone have any information on Jacob Hartman, born about 1796 who married Mary "Polly" Spencer, daughter of Joshua Spencer? I know that Mary is buried in Appleby Manor, but don't have anything on Jacob Hartman. Any inof greatly appreciated. Thanks. Linda
Sorry no McDONALD listed in St Michaels
Your family would likely have attended St. Patricks in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County. Most of the founders of this church were from the Parish of Templecrone, County Donegal, Ireland. I am sure someone on the list has access to the names of the early members of St. Patricks. Fred Brient
Hi Bev in Calif., It's very likely that my John McDonald did not come to Armstrong County by himself, since he would only have been 10 to 18 years old when he arrived. A family story says that there was several members of the family that arrived in Armstrong County to join other relatives that were already living there (Armstrong County area) working in the mines. The whole family (as near as I can determine) were miners. All of John and Polly's children have been accounted for except for John Jr. born abt 1829. I think he married there and probably stayed there when the family left for Ohio about 1854/55. They were in Jackson County, Ohio in 1857. Harold In Florida
Thank you for the offer of look ups. I don't know where Fryburg is located, but I have a McDonald family that lived in Sugar Creek Township, Armstrong County, PA from about 1810 to mid 1850s. The family was headed up by John McDonald born abt 1792 in Ireland. His wife was Polly (which I think was a nickname). Their first child was born in 1829, and the last one was born 1849. The family was devout Catholics, even after they moved to Ohio, but I have no idea where they went to church while living in Armstrong County. I would very much appreciate a look up to see if maybe they attended St. Michaels. Thank you, Harold McDonald Cantonment, Florida
I have a book from St Michaels Church in Fryburg, PA Listing children , parents, and grandparents with dates from 1800 -- 1953 If you would like me look up some names for your families. contact me at heellie@nauticom.net
Hi Harold: Is there any chance that you have your McDonald family research to a later date? My grandmother's half brothers were Charles A. McDONALD born 27 Mar 1868, in Armstrong County (Tyrone City); died 1919 and Richard John McDONALD (c1871-1920). Their parents were John McDONALD and Susanna BARRICKMAN. From the obit of Charles, his father died in Allegheny Co., PA, when Charles was 6 years old. Family legend is there was a divorce. Susanna (Susan A.) married Francis "Frank" FRITZ and after leaving Armstrong Co.; went to Butler. If you know anything more I'd appreciate hearing about it. I have the obit and a photo of Charles A. McDONALD if you are interested. I know almost nothing about John Richard McDONALD except a death date of 23 Oct 1920 that was given to me by a cousin. Hello Fellow Researchers: Does anyone know if there is a cemetery, which is not listed in the list of cemeteries, called Cove? If so, would you please give me directions going from Kittanning to New Bethlehem.
