I have had similar problems, and my one attempt at submitting a query (I might have e-mailed instead of the regular query method--I remember submitting it was a problem, but I don't remember how I tried to get around it) went unanswered. Robert, I don't know if this is a connection or not, but I am looking for a Sadie KRAMER (I have only heard the name, never seen it in print, and this is what the people who told me said the spelling was). She was from somewhere near the Armstrong County area, but may possibly have been from Pittsburgh. She married Edward Patrick QUINN. Apparently, they led a pretty wild life and moved around a lot. I don't have any hard info on either of them. If you come across Sadie (probably Sarah on official records) could you let me know? Patti Garcia By the way, I thought it was a pretty good first post--good information for people to try to make connections.
When I click on Armstrong County from the GenWeb Pennsylvania Counties page <http://libertynet.org/~gencap/pacounties.htm>, the red Armstrong County page comes up, but when I click on Read Queries, I get a dialog box which reads: The attempt to load http://www.dsenter.com/query/paarmstr.htm failed. This has been going on for several weeks, and I recall reading someone else's complaint about the same thing in early December or late November. Are other people still having the same problem? Can anything be done to correct it? James Hindman Peterborough, England
Hello everyone. My name is Robert M Cramer, please call me Bob. I'm originally from Allegheny and Armstrong counties, Oakmont and Distant respectively. and am currently in Frederick, MD. My mother, Levia Cramer, still resides in Distant and my sister Gloria Harman is in So. Bethlehem. I've just recently started the Ancestor hunt via Internet sources, and came across the PAARMSTR-L just yesterday. I still have a number of current cousins on both my parents' sides in your area, and have been able to obtain a lot of current day info. However, it appears no one ever kept up with the older generation(s), mostly anyone born before the 20's. Hopefully I can find some new/old information. I have no problem sharing what I have with anyone that is interested. I'm most interested in finding out anything on MICHILINE or MICHELINI, my mother's maiden name, and CRAMER, William Henry Harrison, my grandfather, d. 12/37 and Martin Van Buren, my ggrandfather, d. 1911. Anything sent is appreciated and hopefully this is not too big a message for a first timer to be sending to entire address list. Thanks, Bob Cramer 235 Dill Ave. Frederick, MD 21701 301-620-4280 kathybob@erols.com

I did not get into the beginning part of this thread concerning the burial of John Davis d.1852 in a Clinton Twp. Don't know if this will be of any value or not, but I own Venango Co. cemetery records and there is a Clinton Twp. there. In those records there is a John C. Davis d. 1 Mar 1862, 26y 4m 18d, Civil War.
There is a Clinton Twp in Butler Co. just above Allegheny Co. You might want to try there. Scott, I checked the church records at Clinton but the Davis name is not listed. MacVille Cemetery is near Clinton and I suspect would be the one to check. I have done that. There are a number of Davis' listed but no John d. 1852. HE is not in the Freeport Cemetery tombstone readings either. Sorry. Connie M. ---------- From: Scott Stoner <sstoner@frontiernet.net> To: PAARMSTR-L@rootsweb.com Subject: A shot in the dark... Date: Tuesday, January 06, 1998 6:43 PM Can somebody help me? I know some of my ancestors are buried at a Clinton United Presbyterian Church. But I don't know where the church is. My question is, is there a Clinton Presbyterian Church in Armstrong Co.? The people I'm looking for are John Davis d. July 1852 and Elizabeth Baxter d. Jan 15, 1846. The reason I believe they might be from Armstrong Co., is the fact that Clinton is about 25 miles from Verona, PA in Allegheny Co., where Agnes Davis' husband was from. Thanks, Scott
There is a Christian Truby who emigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania, and settled in Venango County around 1830's. I have the biographical sketch for him and some genealogical data at home (My computer is at my office). I can send to you what I have. Christian Truby is not the ancestor for my Truby's, but I checked him out to be able to eliminate him and his descendants from my tree. Jane
I have read with interest the E-mail concerning the Trubys. Can anyone connect my g-grandmother Anna Elisabeth Truby(or Trube) with theirs? According to the tombstone in Kansas, she was born 18 April 1830. According to 1870 Ohio Census for Meigs Country, she was born in Prussia or Germany. Another source indicates it may have been PA. However, she did marry Conrad Hartung and their first three sons, George - February 1851, Augustus - 4 November 1853, and Christian - 1855, were all born in PA. All I know is that they left from Freeport, PA between 1855, when Christian was born, and 1861, when my grandfather, Lawrence Casper, was born in Ohio in 1861. Hardie Hartung HARTUNG@worldnet.att.net
Greetings all: To assist a "Kissin Cousin" and to add another McCutcheon family to my database, I am attempting to research this McCUTCHEON family. Alexander McCUTCHEON married a Mary Ann WALKER. Children (not necessarily in order) Robert A (Austin?) born in Apollo 1875, Daniel, L T, Clarence M, Harry S and Nan. Mary died in 1889 and I understand Alexander remarried and has other children. As you can see, I do not have any dates, places, or other pertinent information. Any information on this family, with their permission, will be gratefully accepted. Thank you. Fred C McCutcheon, 219 Blossom Lane, Sewickley, PA., 15143 ps: I hope that when you shake your tree you get more than nuts !

Her name was probably both Philippina and Phoebe. Phoebe was a nickname for Philippina and as the popularity of the name Philippina declined (with good reason!) Phoebe stayed on. Martha
Will try again. This is what I said: See you're searching the name BAIRD. Is there any chance you've run across Esther Baird, born about 6 June 1775, and married GEORGE LONG? They lived in Armstrong County in early 1800s, but probably wre in Wetmoreland before that. They were my gg grandparents, but the only info I have on Esther is that her name was BAIRD or BEARD, probably Baird, and her age was 73 years, 6 days when she died 12 June 1848. This is what I _should_ have said: Looking for the parents and/or siblings of ESTHER BAIRD LONG, born about 6 June `1775, and married to GEORGE LONG. George Long died 25 Dec 1815, intestate, Estate Number 68, leaving Esther with seven children, the oldest born about 1803. Esther and a ROBERT LONG, presumably George's brother, were appointed by the Armstrong County Orphan's Court as guardians, along with William Noble. They lived in Buffalo Township, Armstrong County, but probably were in Westmoreland County before that. Page 483 from Smith's 1883 History of Armstrong County tells about land transactions including: "THOMAS HOOKS conveyed 200 acres of its southern part to DAVID HALL, SR, miller, January 9, 1806, for ten pounds; 153 acres and 13 perches of which the latter conveyed to GEORGE LONG, the same day, for $366, where the latter probably resided when he was county commissioner in 1811-12-13". George Long was a County Commissioner? ESTHER BAIRD LONG died 12 June 1848, and she and GEORGE are buried in Slate Lick Presbyterian Cemetery, South Buffalo Twp, Armstrong County, along with their son Charles and his wife, Eliza. I have pictures of their headstones. Esther left a will, in which she named six children, and two granddaughters: Eleanor Noble Mary (Polly) Hindman Margaret Hindman Robert Long Charles Long James Long Mary McClanahan Long Jane Hindman Mary (Polly) Hindman was my great grandmother. She and Margaret married brothers William and George Hindman. I would like to know if anyone has been searching the name BAIRD and can tell me who were the parents of ESTHER, and if I can also learn the names of her siblings, that would be all the better. In the 1870 census, both Mary and Margaret said their parents were foreign born. I don't know where, but would guess it was Ireland. Any help would be appreciated. It is difficult to get to the Westmoreland or Armstrong County courthouses from where I live. For Nancy: You said you are searching several names, one of which was BAIRD. That's why I wrote to you. These books are also available as part of the Cox Collection of county histories through the LDS Family History Centers. I'm out in Arizona, and that was where I encountered these very helpful books.
