Hi Bruce, I don't know what the Templeton/Prudence connection was (yet). It seems to me that the Templeton name was mentioned in Prudence's will. I'm writing from work right now and all my notes are at home. I will look through my material tonight and tell you exactly what it says about the Templetons. Prudence's maiden name was Green. Her mother's maiden name was Sidwell. I assume the Grandfather, Joseph Sidwell, of Cecil Co., MD was rather wealthy as he left Prudence an inheritance. I don't think the Templetons were connected with the Grahams but rather were connected to either the Greens or Sidwells. Will let you know what I have. Thanks, Sue

    3. Donna, I wondered if you could enlighten me on any Templeton information that you might have as I am at a standstill on my Templeton tree. Only Templeton Buried in Templeton. William Templeton was founder of modern day Templeton. It is believed that William had aquired the land for participation in the Revolutionary war (in lieu of payment), or a tract of land was given to him for settling the land. First settler was not a Templeton, but a African American. Don't know why the town was not named for him or the Indians that inhabited it. Other than Thomas was a Civil war veteran I know nothing about this man and his wife. Many Skinner's are buried in this Cemetery. I could use some information on these two. (Great Grandfather) William Templeton: (5/19/1872-5/20/1944) <wife>Phoebe Elizabeth Pepper (10/20/1873-1944) William was a Railroad Engineer, and a bit of a drinker. This would account for my Grandfather not drinking. My Great grandmother was a actress in Ford City Pa., and her brother was the imported from England to head the glass polishing production of America's first successful Plate Glass works. The Pepper's were treated royally in Ford City by owner John Ford. Both William and Phoebe were laid to rest at Homewood Cemetery in Squirrel Hill Pennsylvania. I believe that William was born in Templeton but I can't be sure. William and Phoebe had three sons and a daughter and moved to Glenwood and Hazelwood in Pittsburgh. Their house sits on Trowbridge Street in Hazelwood. I have photos of both available for those who would seek them. Children were Ralph, ?, Thomas and Grace. Looking for information on the three boys. (Grandfather) Thomas Henry Templeton: (2/ /1909-11/14/1995)<wife> Marian Grace Williamson (1/1915-9/10/97) Thomas was a Fireman for the City of Pittsburgh till 1970. My grandmother was a homemaker from Pittsburgh and was a Williamson <fraternal>(Dormont - Mount Lebanon) <maternal>and Kelleher (West End - Esplen). I believe that my grandfather was born in Glenwood however I am not sure. I believe that my grandmother was born in Dormont - Banksville. They ran away and were secretly married in West Virginia before Marion's prom and lived apart till they were married in a church ceremony in November. They lived in the Templeton house in Hazelwood till 1971 and then moved to Greentree on Warriors Road till 1995 when my Grandfather passed away. Both grandparents didn't drink because of their fathers alcohol habit. My grandmother then moved to Penn Hills where she passed away in 1997. I have photos for those seeking information on these two. They had two daughters. 3. Dear Sherry, I have a relative Martha Barrett who married a Silas Bish. They lived in either Madison or Mahoning Twp. in Armstrong County. Silas was in the Civil War. I was always interested in this Bish connection because I know so many Bishes I am from Armstrong Co. (Templeton). Martha 's father was William Barrett, her mother Maria Austin. I'm sorry I can't give you any more info on Silas. I know they are buried in Kellersburg. If you can help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks Donna

Anybody know about this Susan? Thanks. Wanda, I looked to see if such a Susan was listed in the fairly comprehensive work by Jim Riegel and Earl Reigle, "Riegell to Riggle." No such Susan is listed. A Sarah d/o David Riggle and Catherine Klingensmith b. abt 1843 seems to be the closest. No spouse or death is given. The family lived in the Brick Church area, since most of their children were baptised at St. Michaels Ev. Luthern Church at Brick Church. Fred Held

    1. Re: [PAARMSTR-L] Hello Armstrong Co.!
    2. I'm sorry I don't have any info on your surnames. There are several Armstrong County books that might help you, though. You may already know about them, but I thought I would pass along this info just in case. I'm pretty sure that at least one of them has information on Plum Creek. Genealogical and Personal History of the Allegheny Valley, Pennsylvania, under the editorial supervision of John W. Jordan, LL. D., Volume II (I don't know about Volume 1--I didn't personally find any information there, if indeed I even looked at it), New York: Lewis Historical Publishing Co., 1913 Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, Her People, Past and Present, Embracing a History of the County and a Genealogical and Biographical Record of Representative Families, in Two Volumes, Illustrated, Chicago: J. H. Beers & Co., 1914 History of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, Robert Walter Smith, Chicago: Waterman, Watkins & Co., 1883 All three are in a set called the "Cox Collection," available on microfilm at the LDS Family History Centers. You may have to order them, though. If you are near PA, you might be able to find the books at your library. I am in AZ, so my best bet was the microfilms. 3. Hello, I have a copy of a book called "The Village of Madison" written by Martha Miller in 1976. It is a history of Madison. There is a picture of the classes in the school taken in 1898, which shows that there were TEN (10) FISHER's in grades 1 - 6 at that time. I am a descendent of one or several of them. Can anyone enlighten me on where they came from, who they came from, and where did they go? This has been a perplexing problem for me for quite a while. I am the son of CHARLES CLARENCE FISHER, b.1916, who is the son of GEORGE MARKER FISHER, b.1882 (in Pleasant Valley), who is the son of GEORGE LAWRENCE FISHER, b. 1849 in Leechburg). We lived in Madison from about 1939 to 1949. I went to that same school for 6 years. Thank you, anyone , who can be of assistance in helping me put this together. Best Regards, George W. 3. Robert, Checked in Smith's History of Armstrong County. The only Matson listed is Uriah, who apparently opened a store in Brookville; Jefferson County, PA with the money he made selling sawed lumber that was sent through Red Bank Twp., probably via Red Bank Creek which was frequently used for that purpose, of Armstrong County on flatboats. I checked the history of Jefferson County and found mention of Uriah...but only one of his sons is mentioned, John, who married in 1803. There is no Thomas listed among John's children. Uriah apparently came from Ireland, settling first in Chester County, then moving to Indiana County. I can send you the complete info if you think there may be a connection. There are several mentions of the Fiscus' - mostly land ownership. I can send that to you also. I do have Catherine Fiscus in my database. She was born 1823 and died 1911 and was the daughter of William Fiscus and Nancy Agnes Hindman. William Fiscus was born 1786 and died 1857 (sorry no dates for Nancy). William was the son of Abraham Fiscus and Catherine Aukerman. Abraham was born 1760 and died 1837. He was the son of Gerhardt Fiscus who was born in 1725 and died in 1797. He came from Obersaulheim, Germany. The names mentioned in the Armstrong County History are:Abraham, Adam, Christopher, James, John W. and William. Linda M. Robert P.
