I am looking for the cemetery where Christopher Oury/Ourich/Orry d. 1824 and his wife Catherine/Catharina d.1825 is buried at. They did live near Kittanning. Cassandra, There were a lot of families with the Shreckengost name in Armstrong County throughout the 1800's. There are a variety of spellings, even within the same families. The ones I know of were from around Putneyville, since I am researching the Putney family. There are some sources for looking up ancestors of this family, and some of them list descendants. They might be your best bet if you are trying to get everybody. Genealogical and Personal History of the Allegheny Valley, Pennsylvania, under the editorial supervision of John W. Jordan, LL. D., Volume II (I don't know about Volume 1--I didn't personally find any information there, if indeed I even looked at it), New York: Lewis Historical Publishing Co., 1913 Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, Her People, Past and Present, Embracing a History of the County and a Genealogical and Biographical Record of Representative Families, in Two Volumes, Illustrated, Chicago: J. H. Beers & Co., 1914 (this one most definitely has Shreckengosts in it, and was published in 1914, so it may actually have YOUR family names from the late 1890's. You probably have to look at each listing of the surname from the index, because children were not necessarily indexed. In my case, the children were usually listed in the first or second paragraph, or the very last.) History of Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, Robert Walter Smith, Chicago: Waterman, Watkins & Co., 1883 All three are in a set called the "Cox Collection," availabe on microfilm at the LDS Family History Centers. You may have to order it, though. Dear me, I did forget a very important part of the family that I am looking for. It is the Schrecengost side, which I do know that it is a VERY popular name in Armstrong county even to this day. I tried the old fashioned way of writing letters to folks that still live in the area but to no avail. So I must try here. The family members are the following: These are all siblings, Burton Schrecongost (M) Born 3/8/1890 Died October 1973 He married a woman by the name of Blanche (surname unknown) and they had a son named Russell (born abt. 1910-1930) Russell Schrecengost married a woman by the name of Frances and I assume they did have some children and may still be alive. When Burton Schrecengost died, he was still living in Kittanning, so I am hoping that his son and daughter-in-law are still there also. There is another brother whose name was Clair Schrecengost, who married a woman by the name of Katherine. I have no birthdates or anything on either of them. Last but not least is Pearl SCHRECENGOST. She was born in 1892 and died in 1958. She married a man by the name of William Semmens. They had three children: Wendell Semmens (married Anita Kastel) Mary Semmens (married Harold Sowers) Annabelle Semmens ( married John Kunkle) I do know that they are buried in a cemetery in Kittanning, but once again I am unable to make the trip right now. I do know that there is plenty of information there, but what I am hoping for is members of the Schrecengost family that are still alive. It would give me great joys if someone could help me in this. Maureen The 1876 Atlas of Armstrong County shows an N. Snow in Perry Township. Neighbors are J. Morrison, W. Crozier and A. Evans. A check of the same location on the 1861 map reveals a Jonathan Snow. There are other Snows listed in Perry Township as well. If you are interested in others let me know. Fred Brient

Hi My name is Donna and my grandmothers name was Mary Louise Rowe born July 26, 1863 65 66 or 68 I can't make it out. I just have info on her after she married my grandfather (George Bernard Honadle) At one time they lived in Brookville,Pa and both died while living in Vandergrift, Pa. in the 1930s and 1940s. My grandmother's father disowned her when she married my grandfather, I don't know if it was religion or what the reason. Hello Everyone! I am new to this list, and this is the first time posting anything to it. I figured that I would first get a feel for everything that you folks are doing first. I was handed down this family history book from one of our elders in the family and I never realised how ADICTING this is! I am interested in finding any and all LIVING relatives of the Semmens family. The reason being is that there will be a family reunion this year in the Kittanning Area (June) and it would be very nice if they could be a part of it! To say that least to get to know them! Im going to include a listing of my family that I have been able to get so far. I hope that someone out there will be able to help me, for this is truly important to my mother as well. There currently are members of the family still in the Kittanning area , but they seem to be uninterested in this. So, if I can compensate anyone for their help in anyway, please let me know. It would take more for me to pack them up and take a trip there. As you can see, there are some family members that are not even traced at all. Im not sure where they are, and I wrote letters to all that could be, but did not get any positive response. I am especially interested in William and Ann Semmens and thier descendants especially. I know that they were here but I am unsure if they left this country and went back home. Let me just add that the form needed to order military records from the national archives is often availible at your local Family History centers-and if it is a rev. was record , look in the MRC under united state- DAR records for a listing of persons recieving pernsions from the rev war period. this listis by county and will give the unit he served in- Kathy B
