    3. Does anyone know where the Rich Hill Cemetery in Cowansville is at? Is it the old cemetery on the right side of Rt 268 as you head into Cowansville going towards Kittanning? Also, does anyone know how/if I might find records from the old Berean Baptist Church in Kaylor? 3. Patti: You might try the state hospitals. My husband's grandfather died in Warren State Hospital. When I wrote to them for information, they were very helpful. They sent a letter back with as much information as they could get from their charts and files. They didn't even charge for it. 2. I am researching the JONES family (yikes!) and the PUTNEY family in Kittanning, PA between 1915-1920. I found out today that Harry E. J. Putney, who was a businessman and insurance salesman in Kittanning, invested money from his wife's family and lost their fortune. His wife's name was Marie JONES. Her parents were David and Emma JONES of Pittsburgh. I know that he was involved with the Chicago Air Brake Co. at around that time, so I am wondering if anyone might have any records of that company. It may be that he invested their money in a company that failed. I don't know. In the midst of this time frame, his wife, according to one family member, was distraught because her parents and her husband were at odds. When she died (I don't know exactly when, but probably 1918), he deserted the four children, all teenagers. Neither the Putney family nor the Jones family, as far as I can tell, took them in. A relative also told me today that Harry E. J. PUTNEY died in some sort of sanitorium in 1924 somewhere in Western PA. This all is a big mystery to me, and I can't seem to find the information I am looking for. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Patti

Smith's History of Armstrong County does not list a Robert im Washington Township but does show a Thomas Williams selling land in Washington Township (location for Sherret) between 1838 and 1864. 3. Hi Frank, Do you by chance have the book Klingensmiths of Pennsylvania by Marlin Field? Published in 1993. It has Nellie Peppler married to John Francis Klingensmith. Marlin's book is copyrighted, so don't think I should put info on net. If you want his name and address it is as follows: Marlin A . Field 128 Oak Hillsdale, MI. 59242 I know he would help you. 3. Hello, I had heard a mention about some records of burials in the old Kittanning Cemetery. I believe that my relatives the Pepper's (William, Mathias, Sarah, Ann and a few others are buried there. Ann Davies married William Pepper in 1849 in England and settled in New Albany Indiana during the 1870 & 1880's and Mathias was hired by John Ford (Ford City Glass plant) and moved to Ford City & Ford Cliff. They are buried in Old Kittannning and Manor Cemetary I believe. My grandfather's last name was Templeton. I believe his great Uncle William was a early settler and the town was named after him. My GG Grandfather was buried in Templeton with his wife Nancy Skinner. Although I know of no other location in this area that a Templeton has been buried. Is it possible that you have any burial information for the Pepper, Davies or Templeton familys in Old Kittanning, Manor or any other area cemetarys in your region. Thanks for any help, Bruce BRUCE SULLIVAN sullivab@pop.pitt.edu sullivab@pirrs.cbs.pitt.edu Time is the chrysalis of eternity: Richter Of what use are forms, seeing at times they are empty? 2. Brian, you wrote: They also have for a short period of time between 1852 and 1854. These records proved critical in some of my research regarding the Greens of Armstrong County. Don't overlook this time period. You may get lucky I called the The Register and Recorder's office in Kittanning, and they assured me that they don't have any births that early. Are they hidden away somewhere that everyone doesn't know about? Or could you have found them at a library or historical society? I have two Armstrong ancestors born in 1854. I would love to see those records! Susan Runyan

    3. Doing a lot of military record work, I would look at the pension files which are very different from the service record. You might, and I emphasize might, get some genealogical info there. This is especially true if there was a widow's pension.. They had to prove everything. John >SusanE1104@aol.com wrote: > > Fred, > Thanks so much for the cemetery info. 2. Susan The Runyans in the Kittanning Cemetery are as follows: Dixie Hannah M. Laura M. Norman Norman C. Pearl Thomas S. My records include the oldest burials in the old Kittanning Cemetery and there are no Edwards or Calvins listed. If any of the above names are hits for your family I will provide more specific data. There is also a Hettie Runyan buried at Rupp Luteran Church Cemetery. I have a record of a Phineas Runyan who served in the 78th. Pa. Infantry from Armstrong County during the Civil War. Fred

    3. Just joined the list. Have been working on genealogy "off and on" since 1991. My main lines are Walley and Etzell, but am also interested in the Walley spouse's families. The first Walley I have record of is Nicholas Walhe. So far have not been able to go farther back. Any info out there I could use? Another one that has me boggled is John Crawford, possible John Vance Crawford, possible received pension from Allegheny Co, possible son of William Crawford burned at stake by Indians at Sandusky OH. Help! He died before 1820 according to pension records. THANKS, PATTI, FOR TAKING ON THIS PROJECT!! Mary L.
