However, naturalization records should also be archived at the National Archives, a branch of which is located in Philadelphia, so I guess the answer is both. <g> I would first attempt to obtain these from the county in question, though, as I have heard that requests to the National Archives can go months before being answered. To anyone who requested at lookup at the Carnegie Library: I got the flu!! Sorry that I won't be able to do any lookups this trip. I guess coming from the warmth of Florida to the cold, rainy Pittsburgh area caused it. I've had to cut my trip short & head to my Dad's in Leechburg. Possibly I'll be able to take requests at a later date. I'll let y'all know. I'm soooooo sorry!! Patti Listmistress <impattic@mediaone.net>

I'm researching the Edward KELLEY family. Edward, his wife Elizabeth, daughters Elizabeth Kelley SMITH b. abt. 1775, Nancy b. 1783, Jane, and sons Azariah, William, and James settled in Armstrong county shortly after 1800. Edward's son John b. 1774 - d. 1849 lived in Huntingdon Co. and later in Dempseytown- Venango Co. with wife Mary Ann BEATTY Kelley. The Edward KELLEY family lived in Redbank Township then later in Clarion Township. Edward died abt. 1812. Azariah and his wife Jane BEATTY Kelley and children (3 sons-possibly named William, Joseph, and George and 4 daughters) stayed in Armstrong County (later the area they lived was made part of Clarion County). I'm not certain if William (wife Elizabeth) & James (wife Ann) remained in either Armstrong or Clarion counties. If anyone is researching this KELLEY line, I would appreciate hearing from you. The 1880 census of Armstrong County, PA has a B. V. SCHRECKENGOST with wife H. B. I suspect that H. B. is Hannah HALL. Her age an birth place match other information I have. Bob, There is an Ellsworth/Putney website, and the owner, Tom McCarthy was very helpful. I was looking for Putney information, and he had gone a lot further back than I had. I am not an aol member, and I was able to access this site. http://members.aol.com/ztommc/negene/index.htm It might be worth a shot! Jeff, The following was received from John Giocoletti, a descendant of John Cowan. Hope it helps. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The Presbyterian Church in Cowansville is where my parents were married and where I was baptized. It has been basically in the same location since 1799. John Cowan gave the land on which it was built. The store and gas station across the road was my uncle's store, a Clover Farm Store, and where he was Postmaster. The other graveyard is the only remaining vestige of the Rich Hill Presbyterian Church. It was an Associate Church, c. 1814 - 1914 when it burned down. Most of the Cowans are buried in Rich Hill cemetery. Rich Hill is named after a town by the same name in Armagh, NI. ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////// James Hindman Peterborough, England
