Cassandra, I don't know what Kittanning cemeteries you are looking at, but I know that there were Shreckengosts (sp?) in Putneyville and Red Band, and some may have been buried there, as well. Patti
Hi Cassandra, by the time I find it some one else wil have probably sent it....the gal got sick and said she was unable to do the lookups on that visit....did I send you my Schrekengost family? Too much genealogy and I am getting confused.... I have Elizabeth SCHRECKENGOST b 1809 married to Solomon HEILMAN and there were eight children from this marriage (have the names of three) Katie married John G. Aye and resided in Kelly Station. Uriah married Ida Heckman & resided in Leechburg. daughter Heilman married Levi G. Cook (no first name on her) They lived in the Kittanning area as did all the Heilman families....Solomon was the son of Daniel and Lydia YOUNT who were both of Westmoreland Co., PA but moved and farmed in Kittanning Twp....any connections? Thanks, Monette
There is almost never anyone at the cemetery. You should look for someone with the Kittanning Cemetery book by the Mechlings. Maybe someone on this list has it. Much of what I currently have on these two families is in the Family Folder page of the Armstrong County GenWeb site. Unfortunately, I have no idea where either of them lived in Donegal County. Also, it may be a lot of fun trying to find the parents of these fellows named William Hall and William Cook. Almost like searching Smith. If your people came to the US after 1800 and you have not searched the Philadelphis passenger list index, you might want to do that. I found some good information in there. You might find other family members that came over with your people. Hi List! I must be losing my brain. I usually save all my emails of people that I correspond with so that I can keep track of everything. Well dopey me deleted a folder not realizing what I had done! Well, a kind soul on this list said that they were going to try to go to the Kittanning Cemetery to look up some info for me. (SCHRECENGOST) But II am unable to contact that person. In hopes that someone would have any idea who it may be, I would appreciate a note or two. I would look in the archives, but I figured that this would be easier and , well, it doesn't hurt to be humble at times! Thankyou for all your help, this has to be the friendliest list that I have subscribed to! Cassandra
Having received my ggrandfather's death certificate in the mail yesterday, I am now in posession of the names of his parents (which I didn't have before), but not much else on them. His father was Robert DAY, b. in PA, and his mother was Jane MARTIN, b. in Scotland. My ggrandfather, Robert King Calhoun DAY is listed on different documents with different birthplaces. His death certificate lists McKeesport, Allegheny Co. PA, while his son's (John Sirwell DAY, my grandfather) delayed birth record (dbr) indicates Ambridge, Beaver Co., and still another source (his son's marriage record) says Rochester, Beaver Co. These folks did some traveling around during their lives, and Robert K. C. DAY died in New Kensington in 1927, after having lived in Leechburgh and the Tarentum/Brackenridge area. They also lived in Markle, Westmoreland Co., PA when John S. DAY was born in 1887. Robert K.C. DAY may have had a sister named Annie, because an Annie Hudson is listed on John S. DAY's dbr as his aunt. Robert K. C. DAY first married (Margaret) Mathilda JACK (b. 1854, Armstrong Co., d. 1891) abt. 1874. Some time after her death, he married Dara Unk. who was still alive when he died. If anyone has any information on any of these folks, please get in contact. Irene Crawford JTJTJ5@aol.com

I have seen most of the census film and copied all the information pertaining to my families. Most of this type information would only be held by descendants or others searching the same families. Hi, I am looking for any one with knowledge of the Wert family who lived in Parkers Landing (Parker ) in the time period of 1875 to 1911. M y g.g. Grandfather Tunis Wert is buried in the Presbyterian church there. If any one has any knowledge of this family or lives in the area would you please contact me. Thanks Doug Ineson Buffalo NY
Mary, The only Cooks I have that were old enough to have a child in 1852 were all girls, so the baby's name would not have been Cook. Unfortunately, there were a lot of other Cook families in Armstrong County, PA during the time mine lived there. I know very little about the other Cooks. The only son who could have had a child by 1852 was John R. Cook, but he moved to California before he married and he never had any children. I suppose that Samuel could have had a child at 17, but I have only located one infant child for him in the 1880 census. Nothing before that. Sorry I can't help more. Ken T.
