    3. Hi Fellow Rooters! The surnames: McKEE, HENDERSON, MOORE, GRAHAM, GRUBBS, SCHREKENGOST and KNEPSHIELD (and possibly SMITH, SWANK, SCHAFFER and CLARK-as well as others I haven't found yet) -all from Armstrong/Indiana Co's.--are tied to my family. The connection is most likely through the Knepshields. Can anyone tell me how any of these names tie together? What is the connection between the Grahams, McKees and Hendersons? How are Schrekengosts tied to the Knepshields? Any info. on any combination of the above surnames will help me clarify the mess I have. Your help is truly appreciated. Thank you! Sue Brunot

    2. Dan, Enjoyed reaading your intro., and am wondering if there are any WILMOT's, ANDRY(U)s', or STANIEK's listed in the resource you have? I know that Richard WILMOT was in the 1840 PA census, Armostrong Co. Pittsburg Twsp, along with a David WILMOT, but then Richard next appears in the 1850 census in Westmoreland Co. STANIEK, one Friedrich and later Joseph appear in the 1850 to 1870 censuses, in Armstrong Co. I have just started on these lines and need all the help I can get! Many thanks and good hunting to you! 2. Fred, Would you please be able to check to see if there are any WILMOT's, ANDRY(U)S', or STANIEK's (or similar spellings) in the Kittaning Cemetery? I have just started these lines and can place them in or around Kittaning in the mid-1800's. (possibly before, for WILMOT and ANDRYS). Would you know of cemeteries in the Freeport area? Thank you very much for your time. Marybeth Corrigall ACMBJC@AOL.com

    2. Dan, Sounds like you have a good start on your research. >I am attempting to find HIRAM's father. I >found HIRAM as a child in the 1860 census with his sister, MARGARET, b. >1842. HIRAM'S mother, ANN (b. abt. 1802 in PA), is listed as widow. I'm >absolutely stuck. I've combed every JAMISON record at the FHL and >searched the internet. There must be a cemetery in Atwood where he, >ANN'S husband. is buried. Any suggestions ? He would have been born in >PA. The Armstrong County courthouse holds records of Deeds, Mortgages, Leases, and Estate papers from 1805 to the present. They charch a $5.00 search fee for information of genealogical records, and a $1.00/page fee for copies. It might be worth a shot to check with them. They were very helpful over the phone, and they responded very quickly by mail. They said I needed to fill out their form to request the copies. In my first letter to them, I asked for the form, and told them what I was looking for. They gave me an estimate of the costs in my return envelope with the form. They also have a fee structure for Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates, but your dates won't work with those. Marriage License copies (Oct. 1885-present) $1.00 Marriage License duplicates (Oct. 1885-present) $4.00 Death Certificates (1893-1905) $3.00 Birth Certificates (1893-1905) $4.00 After 1905, records are kept at New Castle (Armstrong Co. will provide you with forms). I contacted them at : (412) 548-3280 >I'm also subscribed to the Jeferfson and Indiana lists, but I've never >received anything on the PAINDIAN-L list. I had trouble on several lists because of the way my server lists its return address--all I had to do was contact the list owner, and the problem got resolved. It could also just be a really slow list--not all are as active as this one! Good luck in your search! Patti

    3. Hi cousins, Thought ya'll might like to read the monthly report given to listowners by Brian Leverich, the co-provider of our mailing lists. We get a similar letter from him each month & I'll post it here. Happy hunting! Patti Caldwell Listmistress <impattic@mediaone.net> I guess this is a new first -- we're posting the January statistics after, in principle, we could have computed the February statistics. Oh well. It's been *extremely* busy around here, dealing with the explosive growth and the many problems caused by the El Nino storms. The executive summary is that we had about 33% growth during just the month of January: o 27,751,946 Web files (20,835,802 in Dec) from 2,400 Websites (2,240 in Dec). - 8,308,561 were HTML pages (not images or cgi-bin) (5,903,137 in Dec). - 3,574,701 were cgi-bin database searches and such. (2,911,509 in Dec). - 15,784,790 were GIFs (14,529,204) or JPEGs (1,255,586) (11,849,905 in Dec were GIFs (10,902,627) or JPEGs (947,279). o 618,762 FTP file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library (472,838 in Dec). o Thanks to a neat hack by Tim Pierce, we know we shipped about 88,649,000 pieces of mail to the 2,600+ (2,300 in Dec) mailing lists we host. o 60,000 alt.g and s.g.* Usenet News articles to hosts on three continents (same as Dec). o Approximately 451,786,000,000 bytes in total (321,408,000,000 in Dec). Besides adding hundreds of new Websites and mailing lists in January, we also added new servers and a third and fourth T1 connection to the Internet. (A T1 is about 50 times faster than a standard modem.) These additions have significantly increased our costs of operation, but they were essential if we were to continue to properly support the Internet genealogical community. As always, RootsWeb remains supported by user contributions. Our bandwidth rate has jumped from 321 to 451 gigabytes/month, and we're having to do numerous upgrades to our servers to support the load. 2. Hi, This is my first post to the list. My name is Dan Jamison and I live in San Diego, California, and no, my house did not slide into the sea. I'm 34, a CPA and employed by the federal government out here. All of my family is from Armstrong, Jefferson and Indiana Counties. I have compiled a database of over 700 persons in Family Origins of relation to me. On my paternal side, I am researching JAMISON (JEMISON), TRAVIS, SHARP, LIAS (ELIAS), MINICH, GILHOUSEN, GAHAGEN, HAZLETT, DICKSON, LEFEVER, MCLEAN, MCCAUSLAND, MYERS and others. On my maternal side, I am researching RUDOLPH, LLOYD, DOUGLAS, MINISH, WINSLOW, ARNOLD, STIVER (STAIBER), REICHARD and others. My biggest challeng has been finding my g-g-g-gfather. My last found JAMISON was HIRAM THOMAS JEMISON, b.7/26/1846 in Cowanshannock Twp. The 1880 census lists him with seven of his ten children. This is definitely my g-g-gfather relation. I am attempting to find HIRAM's father. I found HIRAM as a child in the 1860 census with his sister, MARGARET, b. 1842. HIRAM'S mother, ANN (b. abt. 1802 in PA), is listed as widow. I'm absolutely stuck. I've combed every JAMISON record at the FHL and searched the internet. There must be a cemetery in Atwood where he, ANN'S husband. is buried. Any suggestions ? He would have been born in PA. I was recently given "History of Armstrong County", Smith, 1883, 624pp. It is quite useful and I'd be happy to do any lookups for information. I'm also subscribed to the Jeferfson and Indiana lists, but I've never received anything on the PAINDIAN-L list. I will share everything that I have. Looking forward to learning with all of you.
