During the recent discussion of the 103rd Infantry's Flag I said I had a picture of the flag. The book also has a lot of other pictures. There is a web site dedicated to the 103rd at http://users.aol.com/EvanSlaug/103rd.html This site has a list of the pictures in the book. If your ancestor's name is there just e-mail me and I will send you a copy of the picture. The book is not indexed by name so I can't find individual information. John
Re St Marys church records , Bradys Bend. I would try St Patricks Church in Bradys Bend first. If they dont have the records, they will look up the information for you. If not, they should know where they are, and will refer you there. Sorry I dont have St Pats address, but im sure they are in the phone book. My grandmother was born in 1875. She said the Indians would come from the Allegheny River somewhere in the vicinity of Millers Eddy, up the hill to the Steele farm. One day she was there alone, the rest of the family was in the fields, Indians came to the house. She saw them coming and hid under a bed. They were only looking for food. She was young at the time and very frightened. Which Indians could these have been?? _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail. I don't remember who was asking but I ran across some Zerbe/Zerby information while doing a search of the USGenWeb Archives. Go to http://www.rootsweb.com and then click on "Search the USGenWeb Archives. Type in the name you are looking for and click on the state the start search. In no time you are given a list of a few hundred files to view. The specific file I found on Zerbe/Zerby was zerb0001.txt. the specific URL for the location is "http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ifetch?pa+5636707948+F". This will pull up the file or you can do a search and see what else you can find. The file contains "Reprinted from Genealogical and Biographical Annals of Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, J.L. Floyd & Co. ZERBE pages 489 thru 493 & 585 thru 587." Good luck. Dave DBHartman@aol.com Looking for Hartman, Roley, Armour, Boyd, Goldinger, Miller, Claypoole,
I am currently researching the descendents of Henry Zerfoss who died in Kittanning Township, Armstrong County in 1831. Also Daniel Zerbe/Zerby, the first man killed in battle with the 78th. Regiment. Daniel's widow, Mary Allen, remarried Alexander Burkett. Any information would be appreciated. To whoever posted the query about Andrew and Mary Nelson, Mary was a Zerfoss, daughter of John and either the neice or granddaughter of Henry Zerfoss. Thanks Fred Brient

I found a Samuel Smith (1842-1919) married toRachel S Bittinger (1851-1921). He was in the Civil War. I have information, from a book I have, on his family if he is the right one. He' Friend, You are correct. However, with the encroachment of the colonists on their homeland pushing them westward, the Delaware did place themselves under the protection of the Iroquois from about 1730-1800 while they lived in the Susquehannah Valley and central PA. At that time, numerous displaced tribal groups had migrated into the Susquehannah Valley which was "administered" by the Iroquois Confederacy. Nowadays, there is frequently talk of bringing the PA [descendant] Delaware nations under the Confederacy again. We are seeking instead to unite all Native nations in a confederacy which will preserve our individual tribal identities. The Seneca nation has a museum for the Iroquois nations, on this reservation. I believe the the Delaware's, were not part of the Iroquois federation, but the Shawnee were. Plus I wonder how far south the Seneca's went into Pa.. Anyhow thanks for the information, on the tribes I find it very interesting.Warren Lambing -- Lambing Family Genealogy http://pages.prodigy.com/BYRL86A/lambing.htm
