Pat, That's very interesting. My Margaret ANDRUS was b. 1823 and d. 1901. She had 11 known children to Richard WILMOT. I think I found her father John (ANDRUS is not that common) in the 1830 PA census, Armstrong Co., Perry Twp. If Mr. Cecil ANDRUS lives in Oregon, somebody in his background had to have gone West at some point in time. Thanks for the input. Marybeth ACMBJC@AOL.com
Hello: Does anyone know where Hope Furnace, PA was located? I've looked on current maps, the 1895 Atlas, and the USGS map sites. My ggrandfather was born there in 1841 according to his Death Cert. Thanks for your time and any information. Bob Cramer kathybob@erols.com

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to do an obit lookup for me? I am trying to find out more information on Marie (JONES) PUTNEY, who died on March 13, 1918. I believe she died in either Kittanning or Swissvale. She was in Kittanning in 1910, her children were in Swissvale in 1920. Legal actions following her death appear to have taken place in Allegheny County, but it is hard to tell, since the document I have doesn't always specify locations. My request for records on her from Armstrong County came up empty. I have sent to Allegheny County for records, but haven't received a response yet. I really want to know what happened to this woman, where she was buried, how she died, more about her parents, etc. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Patti

Regarding the copying of documents I spent a number of years in the US Army as a "spook" and we had a handy little camera that we used called a MINOX which was a breeze to use and produced excellent copies with great clarity. The camera contained a small film cassette which was advanced by moving the body of the camera in a short in an out motion which made it ready for the next shot. The camera was housed in a leather case and had a carrying strap of braided metal which established the focal length. I have considered trying to acquire one of these at a local second hand or "hock shop" but just haven't gotten around to doing it. With the advances in autofocus and digital tech photography one of these should be an items that would be available. I copied many 8 1/2 x 11" documents very quickly with a minimum of light and had good results. I suggest going on a treasure hunt for an old MINOX. If you are fortunate enough to find one you'll bless the day. Good Hunting. Charles Henderson 5400@msn.com

Sorrry, I was rude and didn't introduce myself. My name is Jeff Cohen and I live in Flemington, NJ. I have no particular connection to Armstrong County yet but I plan to visit a place called Morrows Corners. It was suggested by someone close to me that I research this place and it has been quite the challenge. My posting will tell you who I have talked to and I emailed another dozen or so County people who were online. Once I can figure out where it is and where it is not, so I know when I'm there, I plan to see for myself and visit the local library and historical society for clues. Since it is a 5 hour drive, any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff Cohen
Folks, I am researching a place called Morrow's Corner, PA in Armstrong County. It appears on the Tiger Maps and I have maps showing it's exact location. What I need help with is the history of the location; when it was founded, by whom, is it an existing place or was it once a town, etc. I would appreciate any help you could provide. Morrow's Corner is North of Kittanning on rte T-581 and Adrian-Sherrete Rd. Thanks, Jeff Cohen 908-284-2131 jeffcohen-cableguy@worldnet.att.net
Thanks for all the info on the digital camera. We're going to return it and get a scanner. Thanks again. Bob and Sue
Could you please check the Glade Run Cemetery for any STEWARTS. Thanks in advance. Pamela
What kind of scanner do you guys recommend. I want to go into churches in May and "scan" old baptism records. Thanks. Jane

This is just my opinion, but if you were seeking to do research at various librarys it might benefit you to have the digital camera, or a scanner for which you can transfer the Gif, or JPG to your PC, or Mac Home page. If you would need to copy a number of photos or printed/written material it could be a very good thing for you. We just bought a digital camera (Sony Digital Mavica MVC-FD7) to make copies of birth, marriage, and death certificates. But the clarity isn't the same as with a photocopy. Does anyone else use a digital camera for this purpose? Some photocopies can cost as much as $3.00 each. Is a digital camera the way to go, or should we return the camera? I'd appreciate any advice from those of you who have been at genealogy longer than I. Bob and Sue Hilty
