    3. Hi Lynn, I just saw the name Rearick in your list of names. Am currently writing a book on them and am interested in any info you may be willing to share. There were two different Rearick families in the area and mine were mostly in Armstrong but some spilled over into Indiana Co. 2. Paul Forquer
    3. My brother and I spent yesterday going through cemeteries and old church records in Armstrong County. We had some successes. And it was a beautiful day on Pa. Our First stop was at new St. Patricks Church in Brady's Bend. The very nice ladies let us peruse the old record books. What a difficult task, they are in Latin and some are very hard to make out. It is amazing how many different ways I found Forquer spelled. We then visited St. Peter and Pauls Cemetery. There we found what I believe is my gggrandfather's grave. I was very pleased to see all the work that had been done at the cemetery. It is still will but much improved over a month ago. We then went to St. Mary's Cemetery and found another old family plot. Finally we stopped at the old St. Patrick's Cemetery and Church. There I was fascinated to see the old Catholic Church log cabin and read about the early settlers from County Donegal, Ireland. If anyone has any further references on this migration, I would like to know more about. I am going to Ireland this summer and would like to see if I can find anything over there. All in all, a beautiful day in PA! Paul W. 3. Hi There, I don't know when the Shelocta Presp Church was founded but my grandmother was baptized there in 1890. The secretary at the church was very nice and let me look at the original record book. I am sure she would answer any questions you may have about your families. In addition, I sent the Historical Society in Indiana some baptismal records from the Presbyterian church that I typed from a microfilm. I am working on some additional Presbyterian records now if you need a look up. I have several family ancestors who were members of West Union Presbyterian Chuch which merged into the Shelocta Community Pres. Church, so I am sure that they would have some records of my family there. According to the short history in the front of the directory, West Union was organized in 1814, with their last service in 1968 when they merged with Shelocta. Shelocta was organized about the same time, but didn't get it's own pastor until 1856. These two merged with Curry Run in 1968. I very much appreciated your offer to do some lookups for me. I have just a few minutes now, but if I may, I will send a "most wanted" list later this afternoon. Thank you very much! Lynnette P.S. I will be mailing a letter of inquiry to the Church today, and I appreciate your information very much!

    3. I have a small booklet from 1992 which gives the history of the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church (created by the merger of West Union United Presbyterian Church, The Curry Run Presbyterian Church, and the Shelocta United Presbyterian Church). The booklet gives a very nice, although short history of the congregation, and includes a directory of their current membership, along with individual and family group photographs. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to forward anything out of this booklet. I was shocked at the number of familiar names (CRAIG and CAMPBELL!), and hope that this might help someone. I could find no copyright, so I am assuming this is all public information. Wouldn't it be cool to find LIVING relatives?! Regards, Lynnette

    3. Greetings everyone, I received a death certificate today on my gggrandmother who died in 1913. Under Place of Burial or Removal is a single word that looks to me like McVille. Unfortunately, this death cert. is of rather poor quality, so I suppose it could be something different from what it appears to be. The undertaker is listed as N.E. Montgomery of Kittanning. Do any of these names ring any bells with anyone here? I'd like to contact either the cemetery or the funeral home (or both) to see if they have any more information on this woman. Thanks so much!
