Looking for any information on the family of Daniel RIVER(S) and his wife Elizabeth. She married second to John Thistle. She was possibly a Patterson or Beltz. They had seven sons: George married Maggie Toy remained in PA; Patterson, Adam, Ebenezer went to Ohio but descendents could still be in PA; Daniel Jr. married to Phoebe and two sons known: John and Peter- still in PA as far as known; and John whose reabouts are unknown. Daniel possibly son of George River. Any information would be appreciated. Theresa
Well Sher! T.T.Meredith was my Aunt Von's second husband. He died a few years ago - I can check the exact date if you want. Von (Unger) Meredith is still alive and well in Widnoon, living nextdoor to the old store - no longer in business. I don't know about the undertaker business, but Thorett was postmaster and the post office was part of the store. The P.O. is still in the building. Does anyone have any information on the T.T. Meredith family of Armstrong County? I believe they had a grocery store and undertaker business in or around Widnoon. Thanks Sher
Does this family look familiar to anyone? I thinks it mine... 1860 Census Indiana Co.,PA Smicksburgh Borough Dwelling # 2520 William Stewart Age 47 HOTEL KEEPER Martha Stewart Age 41 Keeps House Isabell Stewart Age 21 Housekeeper Eliza Stewart Age 17 Housekeeper John Stewart Age 14 Eveline Stewart Age 12 Robert Stewart Age 10 Rebecca Stewart Age 8 Anjalin Stewart Age 6 The age of Isabella matches very close as to what I have according to the later census. Plus the presence of a Robert Age 10 in the above 1860 census matches the Robert age 20 in the 1870. William Stewart occupation as listed as a HOTEL KEEPER is interesting..being that Smicksburgh is/was a very small town in the 1860. Any idea how to locate perhaps what hotel he was a keeper at? Does anyone have this Stewart family in their family genealogy? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!
Sher, I have the obits for some of these people. I will send to you. Donna
Sher, the only obits i have are the ones I already sent you on Collingwood and Gray. Donna
Could John have had a son, John? In Smith's "History of Armstrong County, PA, I find a John Grinder who purchased land in Putneyville in Mahoning Twp., in 1850. Then there is a mention of a Jonathan Grinder in the 159th Regiment --Fourteenth Cavalry, serving as a private in the Civil War. Then there is mention of Jonathan Grinder and three other men erecting Phoenix Furnace in Red Bank Twp., in 1846. Although, your John died in 1839, maybe there is a brother, uncle or son here--especially the John mentioned in Red Bank. There is a David A. Grinder (10/6/1868--6/4/1892) buried in Stitt Family Burying Ground, Parks Twp., Laurel Point, Armstrong Co. I have desperately been trying to find John GRINDER and his wife Hannah (HETRICK)GRINDER. They lived in Redbank Township. John died in November 1839 and Hannah died in 1838. I have John's estate papers and (the papers for minor children); they give me no clue. It looks like he may have died in debt. I've searched most cemeteries in Armstrong County. Just before I returned to Michigan I found out that Redbank Twp. is in Armstrong and Clarion Counties. Does Clarion County have indexes or toumbstone transcriptions of cemeteries in Redbank Twp.? If so, does anybody have access to them? Does anybody have any additional ideas or suggestions of where I can look to try to find where they are burried; yes I know they can be almost anywhere.... In either county is there a list of the Churches or a list of who kept the burial records? Family names: GRINDER\GREINER\GRINER, BARBER, LEMMER, DELIDLE, SHINGLEDECKER\SHINDLEDECKER, MEYAARD\MYARD Thanks Scott W. Grinder Kalamazoo, MI SWGrinder@AOL.COM

Hi Bruce, William Early, born 13 Aug 1858, died 3 Oct 1942 married Henrietta Flick who was born 25 June 1868 and died 12 July 1950. Henrietta's parents were Isaac Flick & Mary Jane Baxter. Henrietta also had another husband, whom she married on 15 March 1885, named Hugh Flick. I don't know when she & William Early were married or if he was her 1st or 2nd husband. Hope this helps some.
