    3. Would really appreciate a lookup for a Nancy Jane 'Jennie' nee WILMOT STANIEK/STANICK wife of Joseph STANIEK/STANICK. She was born 1852, Armstrong Co., and died Jun 1897. Have no idea where buried, but was living in Pittsburgh proper at time of death. I do have a copy of her obit. She is not buried with her husband (he in Calvary Cemetery) as she was not a Catholic. Many thanks for your time. Marybeth Corrigall, in Ohio ACMBJC@AOL.com

    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Volunteers Needed to Transcribe PA Census Data
    2. Alice J. Gayley
    3. The following is a message from Linda Russell Lewis requesting volunteers to transcribe Census Data for Pennsylvania. As you can see, in addition to helping the US Gen Web project, the transcriber will "own" the transcription and can publish it elsewhere on the web. This would be an easy way to get Census data on the Armstrong County page. If you are interested in being a transcriber, please let me know. Thanks in advance to your contribute to the Armstrong County web site. 3. I am planning a trip to research the surname FAIR. Is anyone familiar with the "Fair Cemetery" which I understand is located north of Kittanning off Rt 268 on Penske Rd? My great grandfather, John Fair 1828-1907 lived in West Monterey which was in the county before they spun off Clarion county. Where can I find land records, birth and census records, marriage certificates and wills? I would greatly appreciate any information, past or present, that you may have and would be willing to inform me on. Walter A. Fair wafair@metrolink.net

    3. I have several Henry Crissman's in my file although none as recent as you mention. According to the book, Central PA History: Three Crissman brothers emigrated to the US in 1799 at Philadelphia: John, Jacob and Frederick. They reached Western PA and settled at Lawsonham, Armstrong County. Jacob remained at Lawsonham. John and Frederick moved to East Franklin Twp. Then Frederick moved to Sugarcreek Twp, now Washington Twp. I am descended from Frederick, his son John Walter, his son Philip, his son John Ira, his daughter Mary Catherine who married William John Kerr, and so on. I have alot of info on John Walter and forward. I don't know Frederick was married to or much more info on him.

    3. I have one Unger in my family tree of Crissman's. I have Carolina Clenoma Unger who married Philip Crissman Jan 9, 1867. Philip had 7 children with his first wife, Mary Catherine Yager who died 9/11/1866. He and Carolina had 10 more children of their own. According to Carolina's stone at Tidal Union Cemetery she was born in 1848 and died in 1936. I have lots of info on the Crissman family if anyone would like to compare notes.

    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Armstrong County Website Update
    2. Nathan Zipfel
    3. Hi, Just a quick note to update you on a few things about changes at the Armstrong County Website. 1 - The website has been totally reformatted. I hope you find it easier to use. For those of you with JAVA enable browsers, I have included a navigation menu on each page. 2 - I just installed on Friday a new search engine. This one is much more powerful than the previous one. Stop by and give it a try. 3 - We added a Volunteers Page which lists some projects that you could be a part of. If your interested in helping with one of them, please let Alice or I know. 4 - As you may be aware, it costs money to run and maintain a website. If you'd be interested, we've added a section on the Volunteer Page with information about sponsoring the website for a month. The Westmoreland County USGenWeb Project is committed to providing FREE access to on-line research material. We will never charge for access to anything on this website. 5 - We'll be starting a major project associated with the Armstrong County page in the next few days. Alice will be sending an e-mail announcing it, so please stay tuned!
