You can send an e-mail directly to NARA requesting the forms and it costs you nothing. Why pay someone $7.50 per hour? Patti If he was married, his wife surely would have applied for widow's pension. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised. I know the name of someone who can go to NARA and look for the application card file entry, and send you an application paper to fill out and you are on your way. Her name is Barb Seyler, and her email addy: [email protected] She is quite reasonable, only charges $7.50/hour and is fast. She has helped me out a lot. Does anyone have a Milton J. Heller who married Sarah Jane Burkett in the 1800's in Armstrong, county, PA.? Pat ====================
Michelle: John Kelly Ortz's parents were William David Ortz, birth and death records unknown, and Rebecca Jane Kelly born July 11,1846 in Jefferson Co., PA died April 1, 1932. you might try searching in Clarion Co. because his brother Merle Samuel is buried in Rimersburg Cemetery, Clarion Co. I am only related to this family because my GGGrandmother married Merle after both of their first spouses died. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ortzs" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 13, 2001 9:07 AM Subject: [PAARMSTR-L] John Kelly Ortz > I am looking for any info pertaining to John Kelly Ortz b. 1864 d. 1948 > m. HI ALL, DOES ANYONE HAVE ACCESS TO OLD OBITS? I'M LOOKING FOR MARY INA REED(REID) NEE HOOVER. SHE DIED AT THE AGE OF 23 IN FEB.1915. I am trying to find a family of MCKINLEY's who raised my g-grandmother Margaret Louis HILL. I am told that the MCKINLEY's raised her in the Spaces Corners area of Armstrong County. I am also told that they raised her because her own parents were mute. She had two siblings named Henry and Florence. I don't know what became of them. This is story is a little out of the ordinary and I only recently learned it from my grandmother, but I sure would appreciate some feedback if the MCKINLEY family I am referring to sounds familiar to you. Many thanks!

Regarding the recent discussions about the message boards, copyright laws, etc., the following post is taken from the RootsWeb Weekly Review. Maybe it will enlighten us about the situation. Marybeth Corrigall --------------------- << MESSAGE FROM THE ROOTSWEB HOME OFFICE by Jake Gehring, RootsWeb Executive Producer Another week of work on the message boards has gone by. I just wanted to send out a quick note to report progress on bug fixes and enhancements as well as clarify my copyright statements which appeared in my last message. --- Users can now filter messages by category (queries, deeds, Bible records, obituaries, etc.) to see only messages of a particular type. --- Advanced searches may now be performed within a particular board and this option has been set as the default when the "Advanced Search" link is clicked from within a board. --- Combining the board hierarchies from GenConnect and FamilyHistory.com has progressed quite a bit since launch and is nearing completion. We realize this part of the launch has caused some problems, so thanks for bearing with us as we get one structure for all those millions of messages! Regarding the ownership of messages posted on the boards: RootsWeb states in its Acceptable Use Policy: "When you post messages to mailing lists, message boards, and other facilities at RootsWeb, those posts remain your property under copyright law." The Terms & Conditions at Ancestry.com are the same on this point: "Portions of [Ancestry.com] will contain user provided content, to which you may contribute appropriate content. For this content, Ancestry is a distributor only." And again from the MyFamily.coily.com, Inc. sites by users remain the property of the submitter or the original creator and we are a licensed distributor of such content." I really hope to resolve any concerns here by stating that "if you posted it, you own it." Hello everyone. I just joined this list today. I am searching for my Schmidt relatives - namely my grandmother Elizabeth Johanna Schmidt born 28 Dec 1891 in Ford City, PA to Henry Schmidt and Barbara Nilles. At some point Elizabeth moved to Illinois where she married Joseph Bohler in Ottawa, IL in 1909. I am wondering if any of the Schmidt's remain in PA? If any of this strikes a bell in your family line, please let me know. Thanks a zillion! Mary Bohler Veras
