    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Learning opportunities
    2. Below are nine meeting opportunities that provide genealogical information, and for the most part, are free... one could be in your area, or worth driving to! On Tuesday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. in the Northland Public Library, 300 Cumberland Rd., McCandless Twp., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. Free and open to the public. the North Hills Genealogists (for more info: [email protected]) will feature "THE ETHNIC EXPERIENCE IN LAWRENCEVILLE", by James Wudarczyk, noted local historian and author. Mr. Wudarczyk will illustrate how the various ethnic groups were instrumental in shaping the Lawrenceville community. Injecting amusing stories, he will show how one Pittsburgh neighborhood reflected national trends. Because many families in the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan area can trace their roots to the historic community of Lawrenceville, the lecture will also focus on available resources for genealogical research and address what the historic communities must do to preserve the records of the past. The presentation will trace the area’s status from that of a struggling rural village of 200 people in 1826 to a metropolitan community of over 30,000 residents in 1900. While historical events will be mixed into the lecture, most of the talk will focus on how the English, Irish, Swedes, Germans, Polish, Solvenians and other ethnic groups built churches and fraternal organizations, and founded newspapers. Both the heyday of ethnicity prior to WW II and the subsequent decline of ethnic identification in more recent times will be discussed. Exhibits will supplement the presentation. Mr. Wudarczyk is author of the book PITTSBURGH'S FORGOTTEN ALLEGHENY ARSENAL, co-author of the book MONSTER ON THE ALLEGHENY AND OTHER LAWRENCEVILLE STORIES and author of the booklet HISTORICAL SITES AND LOST LANDMARKS OF LAWRENCEVILLE'S SIXTH WARD. His articles have appeared in the WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA HISTORICAL MAGAZINE, PITTSBURGH HISTORY AND LANDMARKS FOUNDATION NEWSLETTER, and many small publications and newsletters. 3. The Old Kittanning cemetery is in Troy Hill. You may be able to get that information from the History House in Kittanning. Connie Mateer is a researcher there and provided me with one page of the listings that showed my grandparents as being buried there. The last telephone number I have for her is 1-814-257-8152. It is the Lankerd Thomas Genealogical Library on 300 N McKean St. in Kittanning. Hope this helps. I was just up there yesterday visiting my family. Had I known I would have tried to find the information for you. Sorry! Joan betty cain wrote: > Does anyone have a list of interments in Troy Hill Cemetery in or near > Kittanning, PA? 1. Re: [PAARMSTR-L] HAWK/LYDICK cousins
    2. I am a descendant of a George HAWK. My line is as follows... Johan Jurg (George) HAWK m. Anna Elizabeth Walthour ..George Hawk m. Elizabeth ? ....Samuel Hawk m. Matilda ? ......Sarah E. Hawk m. Samuel Traister It looks like Adam E. HAWK could be my 5th great uncle on my Dad's side. Unfortunately, I don't show an Adam E. HAWK or a John M. HAWK. I do show several John HAWKs, but not in the same generation as yours. However, my information and research is not anywhere near complete. I do have a Margaret Elizabeth BOWSER, but I'm not sure where she fits in. I realize that I'm not a double cousin or a descendant of Adam HAWK, but I couldn't resist writing you just in case there is a connection somewhere. Thank you, Donna Rae

    1. [PAARMSTR-L] MOON, BEIGHLE(Y), FOREMAN, BARTMESS Families
    2. Bonita
    3. I am looking for information on Joseph MOON b: ca 1812 and Sarah BEIGHLEY b: ca 1816 family. It has been stated that the family immigrated into VA, moved to Butler Co., PA and between 1849-1854 removed to WI -- both Richland and Vernon (Bad Axe until 1962) counties: 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon Joseph head 68 ca 1812 Farmer Eng Eng Eng 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon Sarah wife 64 ca 1816 invalid paralyzed Eng Eng Eng 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon William H. son 34 ca 1846 Farmer Eng Eng Eng 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon Sarah C. dau-inlaw 27 ca 1853 IN OH OH 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon Nellie C. gdau 5 ca 1875 WI Eng IN 1880 WI Richland Marshall F192 Moon Jay W. gson 2 ca 1878 WI Eng IN Any information on this family would be appreciated. William H. does appear to be the youngest son, my direct descendant is Emeline Moon b: about 1841, John W. b: ca 1835, Lafayette b: ca 1843 and Lucy b: ca 1845. The children's census state they were born in PA, but Joseph & Sarah state Eng on 1880 census. From viewing all other BEIGHLEY census in Butler Co, PA it appears they have been in PA for sometime, so where they were born is very confusing. Emeline MOON married Rudolph FOREMAN son of James FOREMAN and Maria Elizabeth BARTMESS dau of Rudolph BARTMESS ... all Rudolph Foreman's parent' and grand parent's are from Butler Co. .. the FOREMAN's also removed to Wisconsin, Vernon and Richland Counties. We are also confused at the father of James FOREMAN. We suspect it may be Charles FOREMAN of Armstrong or Alleghany Counties but we are not totally convinced. If anyone has any information on this families, I would appreciate any help to clear the air. Bonita in TX
