These are interesting questions, and would like to know the answers, as well. Hopefully someone will reply to the PAARMSTR list with the answers. I am searching for any kind of death record or even a deed showing a land sale for my Stephen DRURY who was age 83 in 1850 and lived in Freeport. He owned some kind of business, perhaps a watch repair or jewelry store in 1840. Are there City Directories for Freeport during the 1840-1850 period? Perhaps there would be an advertisement for the DRURY business? Stephen had a son or grandson named David DRURY born 1815, a painter, who was living with him in Freeport in 1850. Stephen also had a daughter Catherine Drury born about 1805 who married a George F. KEENER of Freeport, about 1838 and may have been living in Freeport during the same time period. Please give me suggestions about where to look. I live in Alabama, and the resources mentioning Armstrong Co, PA are few. Thanks, Helen ______________________________
Census information is available online by subscription. Ancestry.com has many of the censuses available for all the USA. However, only a couple are indexed by name. (General subscription $70 plus $30 for census access). (http://www.ancestry.com/search/io/main.htm) Genealogy.com also has the 1900 US census for many states by subscription ($80 a year or $15 a month). This census is indexed and searchable by name. We've been having a discussion on the Ogle County, ILL list about the massive exodus of our Pennsylvania Dutch & Maryland ancestors to Illinois in the early to mid-1800's, and would love to hear from folks in Pennsylvania & Maryland! Some of the points made on the Ogle County list: The movement didn't happen in the very early 1800's because of the black hawk wars. Families were so big and the mountainous area in the east was difficult to farm and raise enough food to feed everyone. Newspapers advertised for people to settle in Illinois. Can anyone recommend books covering the subject? We'd love anything you can add! >From [email protected] Re: Stephen Drury b 1767 MD was living in Freeport, Armstrong Co, PA in 1850 census. I am looking for someone who is also working on the DRURY family of early PA. Also looking for a death or burial record for Stephen. Since he was 83 in 1850 he must not have lived until the 1860 census. Neither is he living with his son James D. Drury of Tarentum, Harrison Twp, Allegheny Co, PA. Nor with his grandson Stephen Alexander Drury b 1817, also a resident of Tarentum from 1860 to 1898. Stephen, the elder was first in Huntingdon, PA in 1790 until abt 1805. Then he was : 1810 Centre Co. 1815-1820 New Alexandria , Westmoreland Co, PA, a watchmaker 1820 Fayette Co 1830 Westmoreland Co, PA 1840-1850 in Freeport, Armstrong Co, PA All information about Drury of ARmstrong is welcomed.
I am searching for the ancestry of Jacob WOODS, b. 1805 in Westmoreland, possibly Armtrong County. Jacob m. Barbara WIDAMAN in Westmoreland in 1829. They had 10 children, all born in Armstrong County. I have some info that Jacob's parents were Jacob WUTZ and Catherine FREITH, but have been unable to confirm. I know his mother married no fewer than four times, to a STILWELL, WOODS, LYSE (also LEASE, LYKES or LIKES), and WIBLE, in that order. I have land records on a Catherine LYSE, late-widow, wife of John WIBLE c. 1817, and court records of Catherine LYSE, relict of Thomas LYSE, wife of John Wible, c. 1822. Jacob and Barbara had 10 children, all of whom I have extensive information. Jacob d. in 1881 in Iowa. Barbara d. 1895 in Iowa. Any info on the ancestry of Jacob would be appreciated. Thank you! -Anita Wife to Russ, sahm to Nick, Eli, John and Jake (Thank you Jesus!)
Is this the Barnabus Reedy that was married to Maria Hasselbach? I don't have dates, but I have one of their sons-- Daniel Reedy-- married to an Anna Maria Hetrick (born between 1810-1815). Anna Maria was the daughter of Johannes Nicholas Hetrick and Maria Magdalena Nulf. Anyway, the long and short of it is-- some of this family ended up over here in Elk County, PA (Surprise!) marrying back into Nulf cousins. Can send this to you if you are interested. Good Morning Listers! I was wondering if anyone has info on this family. I have 1 of his daughters marrying a Freen Walls. We think that Freen's real name may be Sefernius/Severnius. I saw at the Kellersburg Cemetary back in April there was a Sefrenius ( not sure of spelling) "Freen" Reedy buried there. If anyone is connected to this family please email me, I have a feeling that this Freen Reedy was named after our Freen Walls. Thank you for your time! Nancy

Well, I just got my grandfather's birth cert and was a little disappointed. Now another version of HALDERMAN, HOLDERMAN, HULDERMAN, etc, etc, etc. It is HALDMAN. Just in case though, the names I am looking for are Jeannette HALDMAN and Joseph SILVER. Would the courthouse have marriage license records for about 1899? thanks debi -- SIMPLE PLEASURES ARE THE BEST, ALL THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU SMILE AND GLOW. __________________________________________________________________ Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
