    3. Yes, I'm sorry...Dee Ross was married to Curtis Bowersox. I have a couple of old family photos which include Dee (d/o John Ross and Anna Anthony) Curtis is not in either photo, however a boy named Bruce Bowersox appears in the front row of one photo (small boy) No other Bowersox name appears at all so I suppose that is her child. I don't normally research this name, but thought this could be one of yours. :)) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lori Terwilliger" <terwill@wcnet.org> To: <PAARMSTR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, August 11, 2003 3:14 PM Subject: RE: [PAARMSTR-L] New Member Introduction > Peggy, > > Do you have a given name for the Bowersox? 3. Yes, I do. my G Grandfather, Ernest Beers, settled in Millcreek Twp., Clarion Co. in the early 1900's. Most of the rest of his family (at least the ones I know of) moved to the Franklin area of Venango County. His father was David Aaron Beers (1851-1926), and his step-mother was Emma Jane Morris. David's first wife was Laura Mae Van Gilder (1853-1888). The family originally lived in Crawford County, where Laura died. I believe their children were Ernest Eugene, George Emery, Mable, Walter Jerome, Harvey A, Harry L, and Maude Mae. David and Emma's children were William Grover, Sarah Suzzana, Francis Jane, Arthur Bryan, Myrtle R, and Carrie. I'm not sure where some of the children fit. Are you a descendant of any of these people? This is one of the families I need more information on. 3. Hello, I recently joined the list. I have been a genealogist since 1988, and am researching the following surnames: BEERS, BOWERSOX, GARDNER, GULNAC, MOODY, MYERS, POTTER, SHARP, SHOUP, STAHLMAN, TERWILLIGER. Most families have been in Clarion County (except Gardner and Sharp), and some were also in either Armstrong or Venango before 1839. I have done a lot of volunteer work for the Wood County (Ohio) Genealogical Society, and have done paid research in Wood County in the past. My G-G-G grandfather Solomon Terwilliger was in Clarion Twp., Armstrong Co., PA in 1840 with wife Phoebe and 7 children. According to my G-G grandfather William Terwilliger's obituary, he was born in Clarion Twp. Feb 18, 1838 and the family moved to Millcreek Twp. when he was 3 months old (Clarion Democrat, 20 June 1912). Solomon bought a farm on the Old State Road in what became Millcreek Twp, Clarion Co, PA. My Dad has told me that Solomon kept an inn. Did individuals need a license to open/keep an inn/tavern in Armstrong County during that time period? I know that a license was needed in Wood County, Ohio. If these records exist, where would I find them? Thank you, Lori Terwilliger BEERS, BOWERSOX, GULNAC, MOODY, MYERS, POTTER, SHARP, SHOUP, STAHLMAN, TERWILLIGER

    1. [PAARMSTR-L] Freeport family -- Woods and Carnahan
    2. gayle
    3. I found my William Woods family in the 1850 census of 1850 Page 123 Freeport Twp, Armstrong Co PA. They moved to Iowa by the mid-1850's. William was a coal digger, his wife listed at various times as Hannah or Fanny Carnahan was born in Westmoreland County, PA about 1814 or 15. William was born either in Washington or Westmoreland County, PA. The birth places came from William's obituary in 1883 and from an Iowa history book published in the early 1900's. The first five children were born in Armstrong County: James Washington Woods born 1838 John Calvin Woods born 1842 Elizabeth Ann Woods born 1844 Amanda Jane Woods born 1848 William Theodore Woods born 1854. The youngest child Francis A. Frank Woods was born in Iowa in 1857. In 40 years of searching I have never discovered a parent or sibling for William. My only clues for Fanny Carnahan is the fact that the Woods lived next to David K. Carnahan and wife Sarah Ringle Carnahan in the 1855 Jackson County, Iowa census; and that an Elizabeth Carnahan born in PA sometime in the 1780's lived at the David Carnahan home a the time of the 1855 census, and after that time lived with the William Woods family until her death in January 1880 in Iowa. Does anything here spark a memory for anyone, or can anyone offer a suggestion for a research approach I have missed? Thanks! Gayle in Kansas
